HanPL Posted April 3, 2013 Posted April 3, 2013 https://torment.inxile-entertainment.com/ Torment: Tides of Numenera™ continues the thematic legacy of the critically acclaimed Planescape: Torment™. Set in Monte Cook's new tabletop role-playing world, Numenera™, the newest Torment asks: What does one life matter? Numenera's Ninth World is a fantastic vision of a world in which massive civilizations have risen and fallen - disappeared, transcended, overwhelmed, or destroyed - and left their cities, monuments, and artifacts behind. As each rose and fell, their achievements became part of the accumulated detritus of eons... but much of it did not decay. And now this assortment of ancient power is there for the taking, ever-present, underfoot. The humans of the Ninth World take and use what they can. They call these wonders (and horrors) the numenera. One of these humans discovers a way to use the numenera to grow strong, to cheat death, to skip across the face of centuries in a succession of bodies. But he discovers an unexpected side effect: You. Torment™ is a game of complex and nuanced morality, deep and reactive choice and consequence, and immersion into a new and strange vision. You will chart a course through bizarre dimensions, across the face of a vastly different world. You will earn companions along the way, and discover their value - perhaps through their strengths, perhaps more literally by selling them. Throughout it all, you will choose a path that will lead inexorably to an ending that stems naturally from your actions, facing adversaries who harness powers beyond your comprehension, and who will ultimately force you to face yourself and answer the question: What does one life matter? http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/inxile/torment-tides-of-numenera
HanPL Posted April 3, 2013 Author Posted April 3, 2013 Not only you Their Kickstarter goal was 900k they got that amount of money in few hours. Currently 3,4 mil $ collected Really can't wait till they make this game since I spend lots of hours playing Torment.
threeddd33 Posted April 4, 2013 Posted April 4, 2013 I want to see how they bring it all back together. Will Fall from Grace, Morte, Annah and crew go to rescue the Nameless One as suggested at the end of Torment or will they go a totally new path and have none of the old characters?

They need to make it before their clientell are so old that they need this as their playtime warning instead of the one about eating. "Remember, your hero doesn't need to change his Depends.... but you do!"
Vivi Posted April 4, 2013 Posted April 4, 2013 Best $25 i ever spent i am surprised how many ppl gave like $10.000, i wish i could done the same lol.
leddis3 Posted April 6, 2013 Posted April 6, 2013 I realise that Planescape Torment remains a very popular game, but I'm not sure I like how people are throwing money at a developer who are primarily known for promising far more than they've ever delivered so far, and they've been around for a while. I'm not saying it won't turn out good, but blind faith always makes me uncomfortable.
HanPL Posted April 6, 2013 Author Posted April 6, 2013 Well if this game would turn out to be bad most of future kickstarter project would be doomed
leddis3 Posted April 6, 2013 Posted April 6, 2013 I just don't have much confidence in this developer myself, as far as I know they released one game, the A Bard's Tale remake, which is rather tepid. Though supposedly Wasteland 2 is coming out this year, if that turns out well I'll be far less cynical.
ElvenScoundrel Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 I'm really on the fence on this game. First of all, it seems to NOT be set in the world of Planescape, but a whole new world made by Monte Cook named Numenera. That alone makes me very iffy on the subject, making this a non-direct sequel. SECONDLY, and this is REALLY important for ME: Monte Cook. Fuck this guy. He ruined D&D 3.5. I don't trust anything he gets his filthy little fingers on. Thirdly, what made Planescape: Torment a fucking amazing and mindblowing experience is the absolutely brilliant writing of Chris Avellone, who is now working in Obsidian. He pretty much made Planescape: Torment what it is, and I haven't heard any news of him working on this 'sequel'. Sure, they could have an mCA-tier writer on their team, but I highly doubt it. I won't be pledging on this game because of the previously mentioned reasons, unfortunately. Depending on how it's starts to shape up, I might.
formel Posted April 7, 2013 Posted April 7, 2013 It's a pity that they didn't get the D&D licence for it. But then it is more the story then the setting that makes torment such a rememberable game. And the ideas they stated in their kickstarter campain sound good to me. There is realy no reason to condemn this game prematurely. And since they reached the 3.5 mio strech goal Chris Avellone is also part of the team.
HanPL Posted April 7, 2013 Author Posted April 7, 2013 Yea Chris Avellone in the team is really good sign ^^ Also Kickstarter ended on over 4 mil $

I was ready to go on an epic rescue mission in any sequal of Torment.
