My Save Crashing on Magic Menu

as title says, on my current character if i go into the magic menu it crashes the game to desktop..

 

its not a loot issue or mods or drivers etc.etc its something on the save file its self -.-

 

going back to older saves even months previous those still have the issue, even though im sure i checked magic before on them...

 

using saves from other characters or a new character the magic menu works fine also.

 

any ideas? as im on the greybeards questline and i need to switch shouts to continue

have you tried running your current save through a save cleaner mod?

no sticking scripts. A fun dungeon mod called Moonshimmer Mine has weird bug where a script gets used and stuck while activating a lever. This script sticking dorks Become Ethereal shout, no reports of ctd just reports that shout stops working which implies users reporting already had that shout. 

 

never had this problem, perspective is you have two things in play,for sure,and thats magic and menu stuff(sky ui,anything that might change layout?) 

 

new game works, other characters work, but old saves with current char no good? Would this all be same race?  If what you say is right it sounds like an event in current game botched something, kinda sucks but Since your only now getting to grey beards I would maybe start a new game and quickly get summoned to grey beards to see if an event could occur where you cant use magic anymore(like 1st dragon soul absorbed) 

 

For now, if you could post LO. Papyrus logs might be useful here? Mod manager? 

 

Your current save game, how long ago was it that you could access magic? Did you test unrelenting force shout after 1st dragon fight?Surely you did, and it worked then but you cant revert back to previous save from that point and access magic?

no other races, tried another redguard character and it was fine.

 

I would maybe start a new game and quickly get summoned to grey beards to see if an event could occur where you cant use magic anymore(like 1st dragon soul absorbed) 

 

in process now doing a fresh save, same race, and magic menu works fine.

 

For now, if you could post LO. Papyrus logs might be useful here? Mod manager? 

 

not sure if load order is the issue as all saves new and old (even my skyrim save from 2011 still works good) besides the bad save, will add LO and log at end.

 

using nexus mod manager CE, please dont say use vortex.. im not a fan or like using it and nmm has served me well.

went back months to the char at Level 10 (11 Nov 2020), earliest i got and the issue is still there, and yea im sure i used it on the 1st dragon as im sure i've gone into the menu before too but obviously i havnt i guess... looks more like a corrupt spell i've learned tbh.

I know MO real good, few easy things could of been looked at if you were using it. Other mod managers I am ignorant of as I have never used them. Your problem has nothing to do with mod manager.

Definitely something that needs to be looked into. You know you mods better than I, take a look at spell/magic mods in xedit. I dont really see any magic mods in LO.

 

You can maybe go in game, click player with console open, tab button if needed and look at sub menu on left after clicking player and see something about spells or active effects, use shift key on keyboard(I play with controller but keyboard still works for me when i have console open) and see if you find clue there.

ok there's something amist.. -.- new game, same race.. magic menu WAS working on backup older saves now everyone is CTD -.-

 

any save by this character is causing it.... even saves where i KNOW the magic menu worked fine!

 

 

is there a command i can check my magic? or an idea...
