A request to avoid special characters and spaces in file naming conventions

Hi,

I know a lot of (most?) people use special characters in file names for Sims 4 CC and mods, and have been doing so for a long time. Recently when I was working to optimize my game performance, I was surprised to discover that removing special characters in my CC and mod file names significantly improved load times for my game.

 

I therefore humbly request that content creators consider avoiding special characters in file names. Basically anything that isn't a letter, number or underscore "_" causes a delay in loading files that accumulates with every file name that has any other character. Things like spaces and parentheses ( ) [  ] { } are common and the game really trips up on these.

NOTE: You should not rename any mods that have a paired .ts4script file (so don't run it on Wicked Whims or Nisa's Wicked Perversions files).
