skrimp Posted December 13, 2020 Posted December 13, 2020 Hi, I know a lot of (most?) people use special characters in file names for Sims 4 CC and mods, and have been doing so for a long time. Recently when I was working to optimize my game performance, I was surprised to discover that removing special characters in my CC and mod file names significantly improved load times for my game. I therefore humbly request that content creators consider avoiding special characters in file names. Basically anything that isn't a letter, number or underscore "_" causes a delay in loading files that accumulates with every file name that has any other character. Things like spaces and parentheses ( ) [ ] { } are common and the game really trips up on these. For those who want to try bulk renaming their CC to improve game performance, the "Rename your custom content" section of this article explains how to do it. It does require that you download a free bulk renaming app: https://simscommunity.info/2018/08/08/the-sims-4-how-to-ensure-a-healthy-game/2/ NOTE: You should not rename any mods that have a paired .ts4script file (so don't run it on Wicked Whims or Nisa's Wicked Perversions files).
