TV/PC Porn video modders - Codec/VirtualDub question for you.

Recommended Posts

So I'm following these instructions for creating videos to show up in-game on TV and PC when watching porn. https://modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=533897&page=1

Stuck on a VirtualDub codec issue in the Covert Vbr to Cbr section. After creating a temporary wav file and highlighting Mpeglayer3 in the Select Audio Compression menu, nothing shows up. Codecs are showing fine for every selection above it. Just not for the section I need. I know I have MPEG layer 3 codecs on my PC, but they're not showing up in Virtual Dub for some reason. I did try just selecting OK and compressing the it that way - but no go. When you merge the AVI with the temp wave and re-up to virtual dub, the same audio warning comes up. So I definitely need to select the missing codec.

Any help from an experienced vid modder very appreciated. Thanks.

@SlickWillyLongstroke instead of virtualdub you can use audacity for converting the audio.

  • just drag in the audio you've exported from the video into audacity (TempAudioStream.wav as per the original tutorial)
  • set 48000 for project rate hz,

  • then export it as new wav.

  • convert the newly exported wav into dat with the Generic stream Creator

  • in the vp6 converter open the avi (made by virtualdub) and the audio dat

Thanks @peco328! Much appreciated! :) I ended up alternately using LAMEmp3 codec replacements in VirtualDub on some helpful instructions from Altoliaw and was able to reload the merged avi in VirtualDub without the audio warning afterwards. Most definitely appreciate the help though (and I'll probably get stuck somewhere else in the process, I'm sure). All good for now.

Thanks again!

I had the same problem but found another workaround; once the file is converted to vp6 audio bitrates have no impact on file size. Instead it seems the sampling rate alone has an impact on the dat file size, so I use uncompressed PCM at 22050Hz prior to conversion (these options are available in Virtualdub using the Conversion tab and then selecting Uncompressed PCM).

I know there are MANY other ways to do things, but it seems like if there is no sampling rate conflict between files in the playlist, then it's not an issue. I have seen sampling rate conflicts cause vids to play out of sync in game at times, so I think the key is consistency, but it doesn't appear to matter if the original audio is MP3 or another format prior to conversion just as it's bitrate doesn't matter. I figured this out after some experimentation and followed the same tutorial starting out.

This output WAV can be extracted directly from Vdub for use in the Generic Stream Creator just as depicted by peco328 and will result in a smaller file size of the vid once converted for use in game, just try to avoid inconsistent sampling rates and if you use a mono source convert to stereo for consistency with other vids in the playlist.

Also, I often use mp4toavi free converter to convert videos to avi with mp3 for easy use in Vdub; I get an audio warning that there could be an audio skew of 0ms when loading into it. This is not an issue and I simply click "OK" on the Auto-Detect option, and I typically don't encounter sync problems even when appending multiple avi segments together.

Thanks @Movieguy420! I'll put that info to use when making my next ones. I've actually been using Xmedia Recode and Avidemux to prep videos now before getting them over to virtualdub, since they provide more options for editing compilations, adding audio, changing sizes of mismatched videos to fit in the same comp, ect. Avidemux can be a pain with some of it's quirks, but better than paying $30/month for Finalcut Pro.

Thanks for the help earlier, too, @peco328.

I've finally completed some porn vids for the in-game PC "watch porn" feature, since the WW porn-not-cycling bug is fixed. @Just_Me1993 provided instructions in another thread for how to get custom vids into the WW computer "Watch Porn" feature, if anyone wants to use em:

"To get this to work just open up the wickedwhims package using sims4studio

Go to warehouse and search AVI and just import these video's and save." Delete the current AVI vids in the wickedwhims package first, of course. Vids 7-9 won't play currently, since WW "watch porn" just cycles 6 vids. So if you want swap any of those three in, you need to change the last digit of their names to any number between 1-6 and delete or rename the vid you're swapping out.

Warning: Heavy, crude amateur content in these, so they might not be for everyone. Perfect for that special size-queen (or king) sim in your game, though.

I see you've already had some help figuring it out. To be honest, I never really liked games with porn elements, I was embarrassed to play such a game. Even porn games like Sim didn't make me want to download it. I'm not conservative, I just like watching porn with real people, it's the only way I can get excited. If we talk about self-satisfaction sitting in front of a computer screen, I would choose to watch vidsofcams.com , these girls are so slutty. If I look at such a girl online, knowing that she is doing all this right now, I can cum within a minute.

You surely chose the best website to proclaim that you find porn elements in games embarrassing XD Those spamming skills need work, bro
