Companions Refuse to wear Multiple pieces

Alrighty, so, my Fallout 4 is having a slew of problems, this is just the one bugging me the most.
I currently have Gage from the Nuka World DLC as my companion, and when I try to make him wear, say, gloves and a hat, the game laughs at me and unequipes one or both items, making him walk around naked (I like Gage, but I'd prefer if he follow me around while dressed, thank you very much). Now, that example is a bit of an exaggeration, but let's say I have him wear a suit and try to equip gloves, the same thing happens. I'm not sure what could be causing this issue, so I turn to you lovely people of loverslab to help me with this.

I do have another issue where my settlements never grow, even with an over-abundance of supplies; as well as my trading/bartering/buying and selling HUD going off the top and bottom of my screen, but I can work around those things! I just want to be able to dress Gage up in one of the armors from this mod: https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/46640

As is usual, I have attached my current load order!

You all have no idea how many times you have saved me from never playing games again by the way.

And before anyone asks: I follow install instructions and always download the requirements. I'm not THAT dumb.

So can't tell you why it wont let you keep him with multiple items worn but perhaps as a work around to that issue you could try this gem of mod that's called npc outfit manager. It does exatly as the name states letting  you set 4 different outfits to a npc those being a default outfit, a settlement outfit, a home outfit, and a swimming outfit, each outfit set can have something close to I think 8 pieces. The number of slots for saved outfits in limited to 16 though ( if I am remembering correctly) so you could have 4 companions for example each set with 4 different outfits or 16 with only 1 set outfit. Anyway here is a link if you want to check it out.

Some clothing items also include hands, even though there are no gloves. Might wanna save your game & bring up that clothing in CK & see what slots it uses. You might be surprised.
