I have started from the guide (user a4dce), but my Lara has no body in the game.

What do I have to do to remove the .001 like in this screen ?

Sorry about the delay, the forum is a bit off those days.

Just double click to rename it. It's just a matter of pressing 'backspace' to 'erase' .001.

Adoro questo modello.

Stavo cercando di modificare la trama di Lara_Bikini_Tan Line_version-X (Sostituisci 0953, Sostituisci 1032, Sostituisci 2462, Sostituisci 5715 e Sostituisci 5723), che utilizza la stessa trama.

Cosa ho fatto (HA DATO ERRORE):
1) Noesis -> Esporta 'Replace 0953.tr2pcd' in PNG (provato anche con la versione JPG).
2) Modificato in Photoshop
3) Salvato come PNG
4) Noesis per esportare nuovamente in DDS, quindi DDS->tr2pcd.

!output3.jpg.52a22bfa7caec008431baf94fd46388c.jpg

Devi usare quello.

Cosa ho fatto (testato con Sostituisci 0953, l'immagine mostra "Sostituisci 0083" perché ho eseguito alcuni test con quell'altro file MOD in un'altra cartella):

1) Noesis -> Esporta 'Sostituisci 0953.tr2pcd' in PNG (qualsiasi formato come JPG funziona).
2) Modificato in Photoshop

Rinominalo in "Sostituisci 0953.tr2pcd"

it looked really good with this tanline and sandals, can you drop the file to download of this version? thank you

Sure! I've thought I sent it before but I forgot to do it.

There is no 'install.bat', so you have to drag manually to instalLMOD.

This version IS NOT to be used with Jiggly version.

Lara Nude Mod (Leather Jacket) - Tanlines Stronger ADDON.7z

INSTALLATION:
1. Install the base "Lara Nude Mod (Leather Jacket)" mod by AlphaZomega (In nexusmods site or in the first pages ot this thread), by dragging it to installMOD (installMOD must be in the same folder as Rise of Tomb Raider). You need MOD INJECTOR 1.4 at its mininum. I use 1.5.
2. Then, unpack this file and drag-and-drop the "Lara Nude Mod (Leather Jacket) - Tanlines ADDON" folder onto InstallMod.bat

To use the mod, equip the Leather Jacket outfit at a campfire

For people to help you better, you should give steps to get this error.

By seeing 'could not find' message, PERHAPS you have not downloaded MOD INJECTOR (the one which has install.MOD bat file). It's a zipped file (like Mod Injector-20-1-5-1632505948.zip), then you have to decompress it into \Rise of the Tomb Raider folder.

Are mods still broken for this game?

I guess so (with the latest versions). There are other sites like undertow.club which says the same: 'Modding ROTR is in the dumpster at the moment. Updates on both Steam and EG seem to have killed most mods and people have to regress to a previous build on Steam and in the case of EG (Epic), you're just out of luck'.

But there are people here who still MODs the game (older versions). I don't have any problem by using 813 STEAM version. The game works with all of its glory. Most times, those updates are just to fix a very hard to reproduce bug or add a given text or hint to help the game. I remember Age of Empires II updates, where 1.0e had almost no 'important' element to add in regard to 1.0c.

Surely we could be blessed if someone wise enough to understand the intricacies (nooks and crannies) of tiger files could update 'installMOD' and other engines in order to work with newer versions.

How do I go about doing this?

If you use STEAM:

Go to LIBRARY, press RIGHT button in the game icon, choose PROPERTIES.

Then a new window will open with GENERAL, UPDATES, LOCAL FILES.......Something like that. Choose BETAS

Then choose build813.

There are others like build811 (it might work too)

If you dont use STEAM:
Try to get STEAM version 820 (offline mode). I can't help here.

I download and install mod in page 1 but lara not nude. Help.

Did you follow all instructions? Remember those mods only work with a CERTAIN outfit.

For example, in the BEGINNING, only 'Expedititon outfit' works because she is dressed with it in the glacial mountains. You have to find mods that replaces 'expedition' in order for you to see her nude.

To unlock other outfits, I recommend progressing the game until the 'giant bear' (better if you get to Soviet Base and get, say, 12% of game progress), as you get many campfires and may outfits already. There, you can change outfits. The LEATHER JACKET (commonly used to be replaced by MODS) will appear there, as well as Gray Henley and others (there are other MODS that requires GRAY HENLEY).

There are certain mods in nexusmods for Rise of the Tomb Raider that changes Lara to nude 'at all times' (no matter the outfit), like 'Version-X'. The author also created 'pubes/no pubes/tanlines' versions (for this strictly VERSION-X). But I dont use them because I prefer Jiggly version (Lara is more gorgeous with a jiggly butt and boobs, but it only replaces Expedition and it has some glitches here and there). I also prefer Jiggly because there are many skin types like the ADD-ON I did (for up to 10 skins, like tanline, dirty, cumshot...)

This thread have many of them, but you can find almost all in nexusmods, as most authors put their creations there.

If you are still having problems, like 'partially black body parts', I really recommend you reading all of this thread, like we all did.

And always make a backup of your tiger files (bigfile.update1.000.000.tiger, bigfile.update2.000.000.tiger, bigfile.update3.000.000.tiger).

My first try modding LARA PICTURES (maps, leaflets, papers, boards, posters, etc).

Lara nude main BOARD MENU.7z 33.64 MB · 79 downloads

The good side: it can be done, like Lovegun did (but he haven't posted his update yet).

And those pictures are used elsewhere, not only in this board screen (I dont know the exact places, the game is huge).

Finally, it's more convenient to install when using bat files (like the skin ADD-ON I did), without having to drag manually. But you have to decompress inside your Lara game folder, so you have \Rise of Tomb Raider\Lara nude main BOARD MENU\ (FILES). Then just run install.bat inside. You can also go to your Rise of Tomb Raider folder and drag and drop 'Lara nude main BOARD MENU' folder to installMOD manually if you want. Please read 'modinfo.txt' before anything.

!1.jpg.4f219886768fa76e7f98ff0a1858e8c8.jpg

The bad side: some pics still aren't changed (e.g. The portrait of Lara and her friend in the pic above). There are dozens of those DRM files with different section texture files that is identical to others. I've found many DRms with a given picture, then I changed it, but inside the game, it still doesn't show up because the 'instance' of the picture shown in a given area of the game uses yet another DRM file. It's a heck of slow to search one by one (I use the Ekey h4x0r 2017 version), and try to find identical textures by browsing in Noesis.

But I know those are inside folders like that:

image.png.57a2ef983c8a873e15aa4b9728f68de7.png

If you guys know which DRM needs to be there, please tell me.

Hi Ivanon! I did some research on this. Trying to even figure out how in the heck I could open the Tiger files etc. I'm very new to modding games like ROTTR. But I managed to open the Tiger, DRM etc. files and I made a notice that very well might just be ok but it catched my eye! In your file there is bigfile.update2.000.000.tiger opened and you have made modifications to it! Shouldn't it be bigfile.update3.000.000.tiger that gets modified? I found the same mainmenu_larasflat_01.drm file from there but the file .tr2pcd files in that DRM were completely different! I'm just wondering if that could be the cause of some pics not changing? Or I'm completely wrong. Very much possible also! :D But I wanted to bring that to your attention and maybe help a bit. I'm also trying to make sense on how to modify those pictures, DRMs, .tr2pcd files etc. But I'm just taking baby steps right now!

Hey, thank you, that's a right assumption!

I've tested it now.

I opened this DRM and changed those files, by saving them as 'Replaces tr2pcd', and copying the mainmenu_larasflat_01.drm from unpacked/bigfile.update3.000.000:

image.png.114b733000cd206d3a06cfb32409a07e.png

But, after running installMOD, those 656.txt, 684.txt files only have a line like that:

2c906800 2c992800 bigfile.update3.000.000.tiger

Interesting that 656 is really the file assets\textures\environment_pbr\cine_sets\cine_props\cine_prop_laptop_login_dim_screen_alb_v01

In those other 'update2' files (not in the folder above), like I already did before, it works, because each file ends up like that:
78465000 78c64000 bigfile.update2.000.000.tiger
replace: 040eac98 00aaabd4 00aaabd4
040f3456 00140000 ffffffff 006544b3 78465000 007de348
040f3456 00140000 ffffffff 007de348 78465000 007de348
replace: 040eac98 00aaabd4 00aaabd4
replace: 040eac98 00aaabd4 00aaabd4
040f3456 00140000 79351000 007de348 78465000 007de348
040f3456 00140000 79351000 007de348 78465000 007de348
replace: 040eac98 00aaabd4 00aaabd4

But nothing has changed still:

image.png.da656f9ea6b2dec4665c42e7ea45d472.png

There might be something 'more' about replaceing 'update3' files.

Yeah I see! That's odd! Seems like modding those exact images/files are somehow trickier than those other images/files! Like I said I'm very new to this stuff so I can't help you much right now! But I'm still investigating it also. If I find  or figure something I will tell you! They surely didn't make modding this game simple! :D

There are two files called Mesh_3_0 .

If I now delete the .001 it appears in the upper area and vice versa. What am I doing wrong ?

According to a4dse that made this tutorial, when you copy a given mesh from other blender file and paste inside your project, it puts a new mesh there with a 001 suffix, outside 'bone000'. Sometimes it even creates a new folder, like 'bone000.001'. This mesh needs to have an unicque name, like Mesh_300_0 (you must not have two Mesh_3_0 name, that's why there is something odd happening when you just remove .001 prefix).

Moreover, after changing Mesh_3_0.001 to, say, Mesh_300_0, you need to put it back to bone000 (provided you are adding a given mesh 'inside' Lara). So you need to edit Mesh_300_0 'relations' in order to force it inside bone.000 (in the example below, mesh_2_16 were inside bone000.001).

image.png.f55891d0ca6a45db895a223c3795e4b3.png

image.png.1b6312b7ca1352309a180383b33e0a86.png

I've learnt many small things that worked well with those meshes. It's not that hard, all can be done. I recommend pausing, taking a sip of coffee and such. I used many days to understand those intricacies.

Thank you. It is very hard to understand this blender tool for me.

Nevermind!

Oh, another thing: if you are ADDING a new mesh, you noticed there is 'nothing' set up, that is, there are no additional icons.

image.png.ddb9de6e273fb9c6cba702ee8d30a0a1.png

Normally, those 'wrench, squared circle, triangle' are set.

If you add something without those, some small problems may occur related to movements, materials, etc.

If you need your mesh to have the same behavior of Mesh_3_0 or any other mesh that is part of a bone with movements, you need to manually create the 'wrench' and 'squared' items. You just need to 'click' in each one to understand which properties they set. Once you put 'something' in the tab/menu related to them, they 'appear' as icons there (like the blue wrench).

But for now, I guess there is no problems. Generally, 'adding' a new mesh is just like appending a nail into a finger (provided it's related to the finger and inside bone000 and you have set a given material, ie. a skin name, reusing other mesh material).

It's a matter of testing and testing.

Well someone got SpecialK working with the Epic Game Store version. So now everybody with EGS version can use texture mods:

https://www.nexusmods.com/riseofthetombraider/mods/18

No word on mesh mods though.

The current injector still work with injecting meshes.  Be aware, the section ids have changed.  For example, the snowgear mesh section 1071.tr2mesh is now 1115.tr2mesh.

The problem with the injector is that it can't inject textures anymore.  The game crashes with that texture error message.  But since special K works, its possible to just inject meshes then use special K for textures.  But that special K looks so complicated to use...

--

To be more specific, it might be the injector deep search replace that's the problem. (ie, naming texture 'replace' instead of 'section' will force it to do deep search replace)  Maybe if someone can figure out a fix...

Nevermind, the injector really is busted.  Injecting one mesh worked, but the moment two meshes are injected, the game stopped working.  The problem maybe the new update3.000.000.tiger is so big, it spilled over to update3.000.001.tiger.  And the injector couldn't handle it...

Yup, unfortunately unless someone who can read Alpha's code and make it compatible with the latest update, or Alpha himself comes back, we are screwed when it comes to getting the latest build working. And obviously considering the amount of time Alpha has been gone, it's pretty safe to say, we are screwed.

All those stuffs not attached to bone000 at the bottom of the screen can be deleted.  No idea how you got Mesh_3_0.001.

If you are importing a brand new mesh to replace an existing one, then you do need to get the wrench and the squares.

To get the squares:

  1) go to modifier properties

  2) in the add modifier drop down menu, click on data transfer

  3) click on Source, and find the mesh you want to replace

  3) click on Vertex Data, and within vertex data, click on Vertex Groups, then click on Generate Data Layers

  4) then click apply, now all the bones and weights from old mesh should be in your new mesh

To get the wrench:

  1) click on the new mesh, then control-left click on the old mesh

  2) then press control-L to make a link

  3) select modifiers, that should get you the wrench

After getting both the squares and the wrench, you can delete the old mesh, and name the new mesh with old mesh name.

---

also, if the mesh is invisible after exporting to tr2mesh, don't forget to go to object mode -> object -> shade smooth
