BlueBoxAssociation Posted August 2, 2020 Posted August 2, 2020 Okay, I am... well, confused. Seriously and in a most epic fashion confused. I recently was setting up a PG-13/R-rated mod list, removing the Sexlab related mods from my mod list. My main goal was to avoid any and all conflicts with some of the bigger follower mods like Vilja and Inigo, as they don't play nice with anything trying to take control of them. All was going well, I had started a game using Unbound for the first time and was merrily running through Skyrim slaughtering things. Then I ran into a conflict, researched, fixed, and started a new game. Rinse and repeat a few times until I ran out of major conflicts that were causing game breaking, or at least major immersion breaking, bugs. Or so I thought. See, I had yet to run into a dragon as I had set the random days to 10 to 30. I managed to get to level 25 in my most recent play through before running into a dragon, and this was the draco-lich in Labyrinthian. He just stood there, wings out to his sides and propped up on his legs and his neck stretched out straight forward. I scratched my head, killed it, and went on my way. I chalked it up to Unbound Reborn 'disabling' dragons and figured I would investigate and report it later. I moved on, and 2 levels later ran into my first overland random dragon attack. Except he was sitting on the ground in the same position as the draco-lich. Only this time, no matter how much Inigo, an Afflicted Refugee, and myself attacked it, it would not die. Each of the three of us took 2 turns each triggering the kill scene animation, only we were floating in air as we went through the motions and the dragon did nothing. At this point, I quit and did my research. Unbound Reborn mentioned having incompatibility with things that change dragons, so I thought it might be conflicting with Ultimate Dragons. So I switched back to AS-LAL, installed Vilja finally, a couple more Khajiit Speak patches, and started a new game. This time, I grabbed Vilja from Whiterun then headed out to get Nettle Bane since her quest took us to the Elder Gleam. Kill two birds with one Khajiit and all that. We approached Helgen, Unbound completed, LAL updated, and I opened the doors to the destroyed town. Inside, I found Alduin standing there in the exact. same. POSE! I wanted to scream. Now I went into xEdit to try and figure out what was going on. What mod was conflicting with what causing this? I had re-run FNIS a dozen times including a from scratch rebuild of the animations a dozen times at this point and this bug was still going on. I opened Dragon in xEdit, since it was the first overland dragon I had run into that didn't do anything, and found.... nothing. The Dragon's reference was clean, no conflicts, nothing even touching it. I checked Alduin, same thing. Draco-lich, same thing. Now I was really confused. I tried moving Ultimate Dragon's ESP around, thinking something was causing an issue but this did not fix anything. Finally, I got the bright idea to enable More Nasty Critters and it's masters and re-run FNIS. I loaded back into the game after this and Vilja and I ran from Riverwood to Helgan, and lo' and behold, Alduin lifted off into the air fully animated as I approached. So that is my story on how SL, MNC, and SL Aroused fixed my game. However, the question I now have is, what broke it to begin with? Here are my mods and the plugin order. So, how the heck did I break this that only Lovers Lab could fix it?

I would kindly ask you to read paragraph 7. I did re-run FNIS, multiple times in fact. I had run it and just let it over-write it's old files. I had deleted all the files then went back and re-ran it. I did this multiple times, over and over again. The fact that it was obviously an animation error is what got me to thinking about MNC. What is baffling me, is that the only mod in the load order that touches dragon animations that I am aware of is Ultimate Dragons, and I have been running that mod for a few months with zero problems. Something else was borking the dragons and I've no clue which of the above mods would have out right deleted dragon animations or broken them so badly that the walking lunch boxes (I still want to try dragon pie) t-posed. The failure of FNIS to fix what was obviously an animation error is what led me to checking xEdit for something that might have been borking the AI or something else by overwriting the dragon's entry.
