Guest k11k27y21k11 Posted March 9, 2013 Posted March 9, 2013 If I replace the current graphics card with a radeon 4890 with this setup i5 3330 processor, 3.20 GHz ram 8 gb dual chanel DDR3 SDRAM at 1600 MHz 1TB hardrive Could it run skyrim on high or ultra?
Rayblue Posted March 10, 2013 Posted March 10, 2013 You should mention what sort of video card (GPU) you're going to use, and in this case, an HD4890 isn't going to do well at higher resolution because of the bottleneck, and you'll have a heavy framerate drop before getting a CTD. If you have the money, get an HD7000 series card or its nVidia equivalent; not only you have greater speed without the bottleneck of the HD4890 but also better power savings.
polluxval Posted March 11, 2013 Posted March 11, 2013 currently i have a: IBM AT 5170 Operating system PC-DOS 3.0 and later, OS/2 1.xCPU Intel 80286 @ 6 MHzMemory 256 KB I run skyrim at 120 fps with this babe on ultra. being serious, I agree with Rayblue, all your pc will manage skyrim on ULTRA pretty well but the video card its very important. even if you have a monster pc, if the gpu its old and/or cheap, it wont help.

lordofthedread Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 Yes you will be able to run Skyrim in ultra, depending on what texture packs and ENB you will use a more recent graphic card will do better. EDIT : the OP states he will be using a Radeon HD 4890, it is a great video card and it can handle Skyrim in ultra but it is still 3 generations old.
Astaroth-Lite Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 I miss the days when you put your case on its side and put the monitor on top of the case.
