Oddly varying brightness in dungeons

Greetings,

I have come across some odd behavior with the lighting in my game (Skyrim Legendary Edition) and couldn't find a solution through either googling it or playing with the settings myself. Perhaps some of the experienced members here have encountered this before:

In some dungeons, the overall lighting will change from rather dark (as desired) to rather bright in certain areas, even though there is no light source.

Please see the following screenshots to understand what I mean. The first shot is very dark, and the second shot was made only a few steps further ahead, and you can see how the entire room brightened. The candles seen in both shots are merely STATIC forms, not LIGHT forms, I removed the light myself by disabling it via TES5Edit.

Some details:

-) The shots were taken in Ustengrav, a vanilla dungeon.

-) I tried this with different lighting templates set in the Cell Data (the one in the shots is DL1DarkDungeonClose from the Dawnguard DLC), including the DefaultLightingTemplate and no template at all and setting the ambient lighting and fog values myself. The results only differed in the dark area, the bright area remains pretty much the same in every case.

-) I am using RLO (Realistic Lighting Overhaul), but as far as I could tell with TES5Edit, the Cell Data is not altered by RLO.

-) I am using RealVision ENB and tried to turn it off. Again, no effect on the bright area (except it looking, well, a bit less amazing, without the ENB)

-) I also fiddled with some .ini settings, mostly settings related to LightFade and LightLODFade. Again, nothing

-) Finally, I examined the Cell in the Creation Kit, to see if there is any kind of light source I simply missed in TES5Edit. Nothing, the only light source in the immediate area sat up near those candles and was disabled.

-) The problem occurs in some cells, and in others, it does not. For instance, the same thing happens in Ustengrav01 (the cell in the shots being Ustengrav02), and in both cases only certain area seem to apply the lighting template, whereas others look like the second shot (too bright). In both cases the area where it DOES work seems to be around the center of the cell (looking at the entire dungeon in the Creation Kit). But there isn't anything different about the central area. In the case of Ustengrav02, there is an AcousticSpace covering it, but that's about the only distinguishing feature I could make out. Meanwhile, the Cell EmbershardMine01 (another vanilla dungeon) has no such issues and retains the same levels of darkness everywhere (not considering any lights of course).

Again, maybe somebody with more experience has seen this behavior before. Perhaps the solution is incredibly simple and I was just too clumsy to find it.

Any response would be very much appreciated.

lighting in my game (Skyrim Legendary Edition)

There has been volumes wrote on this very subject lighting has long been an issue in Skyrim there is some mods to help but no real fix. If it is not game breaking for you immersion wise I would just let it be most lighting mods have their own issues so you really are not fixing anything just causing more headaches down the road.

Thank you for your answer :)

Yeah, I was afraid it was going to be a known, yet not really resolvable issue. Guess I'll just roll with it. Naturally, it is not gamebreaking.
