kaykbot Posted March 5, 2013 Posted March 5, 2013 When I got to the "the Path of Knowledge" quest, the game started irritating me. My biggest issue is with the use key. The game was really slow, and using the control panels were almost impossible, with the "use" key not working. It owrked fine for talking or sheathing weapons, but activating story mechanics was a whole different story. As I progressed through the main quest from that point, it got more and more frustrating,with the game getting slower and dumber. Such misfortunes range from crashes, constant freezing, the irritating "use" key not responding to the objects needed to progress through the story line, random "enemies", which did not exist, which I usually fixed by using the "TCL" command andn flying out of the room and back in, just to read the Black Books, Miraak sometimes notappearing to steal the Dragon Soul, the Dragon not having any soul to steal, such as the one that attacks when you exit the Dwarven ruin, to the game (or should I say, the DLC) finally working when I used a command that conflicts with that, forcing me to reload to an earlier save. After a buggy and tedious battle with Miraak, and old Herma-Mora/ Cthulu impaled the other Dragonborn, I chose the perk I wanted to reset, and now I'm stuck. The "use" key is being the stupid fart it started to be, and because of tht, the "To Solstheim" portal won't work, trapping me in Herma-Mora's realm. Is there a fix for the "use" key? I have tried multiple commands to try and fix this, like "player.coc *Solstheim*" and "player.coc %Skaal Village%", but none of them work. Can someone help me? Speaking of which, when I activate something and it doesn't work until the 20th try, usually the command will be executed AFTER I have already gotten through that part. Example: *uses Black Book* result: nothing #some time later# Wandering around Raven Rock when character freezes. "What the fuck? What's going on?!" *pulls out Black Book* FFFFFFFFFFF- EDIT: Okay, so for some reason, "coc Solstheim" or "coc Skaal Village" didn't work but "coc Whiterun" did. Strange. My game is still freezing at random.
Rayblue Posted March 6, 2013 Posted March 6, 2013 Guess that you'll have to make a backup of the Dragonborn.esm/.bsa and then run TES5edit to remove those ITMs/UDRs, then install the unofficial patch, before waiting for some in-game days for the DLC to settle down before going back to Solstheim. That's what I did.
