centaurette Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 Can .bsa files be packaged into other .bsa files - like for instance I wanted to include another mod onto mine but it contained a .bsa file. How do I do it?
gregathit Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 Extract both bsa files and merge the two together then create a new bsa file.
Ark of Truth Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 No you cannot add a BSA file to another BSA file. This is because the BSA file has to be the same name as the ESP file it is associated with. For example if you have A.bsa and A.esp they will be connected allowing the ESP to access the files in that BSA, however if you have another esp such as B.bsa inside A.bsa it won't get accessed or loaded because it is not associated with A.esp. You can however extract the contents of A.bsa into a folder and then place the loose files into your new BSA. You could try and merge the two ESPs but that is extremely dangerous and can cause corruption.
centaurette Posted March 1, 2013 Author Posted March 1, 2013 Thanks for your reply. Will I still need to include the associated .esp files associated with the .bsa file into the new .bsa file? For instance, if I tried to include the A.bsa into my own bsa file and it came with A.esp, would I have to extract all the loose files from A.bsa put them into a folder along with the A.esp file? The reason I am asking is that I'm trying to include 'Horsemen mounted combat' mod with 'Horses for followers' mod into my Valkyrie mod - which I've put up on this site.
Ark of Truth Posted March 1, 2013 Posted March 1, 2013 Even if you put the BSA and ESP inside your BSA file that would still not work. Your best bet is to do this file structure. I took the time to build one for you which is attached to this post Just place each mod insides it own folder. The BSA, text and ESP files there do not work and are just 1kb files used to show how you can doi it. If a mod does not have a BSA then just replace the dummy one with the mod files. Take it in mind you if you are going to upload to the Nexus you must ask permission of the other mod authors to include their mods in your mod distrubution. If they have managed on the mod page that you can then you will be fine. Any issues let us know
