aljustineg Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 im planning on purchasing elderscroll iV oblivion because i have log issues on playing skyrim on high quality i was wondering can i play oblivion at ultra high quality? here is my laptop Spec: operating system: windows starter 32 bit system model: hp pavilion G4 note book pc processor: intel ® core i3-2350m cpu @ 2.30GHz (4CPUs), ~2.3ghz memory: 2048MB RAM my current hard disk size is 100gb i still have 500gb free spaces
gregathit Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 Well oblivion is an older game so it will only use one core. Running with a 32 bit windows OS and only 2GB of ram is not going to help you either. Do you have a separate video card (if so what are its specs)? If you have an onboard card then you probably aren't going to do much better than medium quality with just the vanilla game. Because oblivion is an older game and is not optimized, it may actually run the same or worse than Skyrim. Laptops are typically pretty horrible at trying to play games with. Adding mods may be more than your pc can handle depending on which ones they are. Recommended and Minimum Official spec's: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:System_Requirements
aljustineg Posted February 22, 2013 Author Posted February 22, 2013 im using Radeon 6470m i also play (KoA) kingdoms Of Amalur its works fine for me. i think oblivion has similar graphics to KoA
polluxval Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 well amalour its slightly lighter even for the year but playing oblivion vanilla with those specs will suffice for good fps.
gregathit Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 Having a dedicated graphics card will most definitely help. You will need to be careful on adding plugins. Try to avoid the high rez texture packs as that may be more than your setup can handle. As to comparing oblivion to Amalur, it is not at all the same. Oblivion is an 07 game so it is no where near as optimized as Amalur. Best of luck to you!
aljustineg Posted February 22, 2013 Author Posted February 22, 2013 ok il be becareful in adding plugins that add high resolution im good with vanila high quality rather than play skyrim in low quality thanks for your help
AgentChicken Posted February 23, 2013 Posted February 23, 2013 Think of it like this, I can run oblivion on ultra high graphics on a HD 5470 Asus Notebook. So you should have no problem
cobme Posted February 23, 2013 Posted February 23, 2013 Albeit old, I find oblivion to be capable of wondrous things... I use Nvidia GPU ( I think it is GTX 460 or something of the sorts) and through the Nvidia control panel I added lots of graphical features that don't exist in the game.. I really pushed it's limits... So the game engine couldn't run all of those things... At least I think that was the cause for the unbelievable slow running times and crashes. For example I added ambient occlusion among other things.
Emily Posted February 24, 2013 Posted February 24, 2013 The real question is what is the best ENB filter for oblivion?"
