Is there a way to use XLovers with an old save file?

I'm sure it's possible. Although you might be missing some spells from lovers. There might be other issues that I'm forgetting.

Yes.  Disable all lovers esm\esp files and start the game and load your old save.  When it is fully loaded hit the escape key and make a new manual full save (no autosaves or quicksaves).  Then exit the game and enable your lovers esm\esp files and restart the game and load your newly made "clean" save.
