Lovers Voice issue (I think)

After installing Lovers Voice SSP Plus, a lot of the NPC's normal subtitles are messed up. A character might say "How goes it?" and the subtitles will read "Thank you" for some reason. This only started after I installed Lovers Voice SSP Plus, which is why I partially believe that it is responsible for these issues.

 

How do I fix this?

 

Alternatively, do general subtitles have to be on for Lovers Voice to work?

To work properly,general subtitles should be on. Much "dialogue" in Voice will need subtitles or else things happen (like the example you mentioned).

Well, it's not fixed, but I just turned general subtitles off and that helped a bit. Contrary to what you have said, HaloReachMan123, turning general subtitles off had no negative effects on LoversVoiceSSPplus.

 

Still, I would like to fix this problem, because it's still present when talking directly to people.

Make sure you don't have any other lovers voice enabled and make sure all masters are present for LVssPPlus (you can use wrye to check what the masters are).

Yep, what prophour said, that'll lead to a conflict using both. Actually, I'd get rid of LoversAdultPlayPlus.esp as LoversVoiceSSPlus.esp needs LoversAdultPlayPlusforSSP.esp.

The problem is probably that when the team translated loversvoice everything was in japanese(obviously). None of the translators speak japanese as far as I understand it. So they used translation software and sites to translate the dialogues. Translating like that is not 100% accurate, so "how goes it?" became "Thank you" in the subtitles.

 

You could open the esp in Tes4edit or CS and look under the greetings topics and fix this. Making "Thank you" back into "how goes it?" I'd advise to use Tes4edit. I believe your problem is just that a translation error, and not load order or conflict related.

If this is the case, could I not just somehow re-install the game's subtitle text?

 

I'm assuming this is possible, as disabling the esp did not help, giving me the impression that the subtitle text was replaced when I dragged and dropped files.

If it wasn't the loversvoice esp maybe its the adultplayplusforssp which also modifies and adds some greetings and hello topics. Your original subtitles are still there no need to reinstall them they are in the oblivion ESM. What a mod (modification) does is it overwrites content or adds new content. In this case its overwriting the original english dialogues for either the greetings or hello topic.

 

All oblivion mods use and are based on the oblivion Esm (masterfile) any mod that follows after can and does change the original content to that of the new mod. If you use Tes4edit and check the loversmods you can see which ones modify the original dialogue topics. If they are yellow it means something from the original oblivion Esm is being overwritten. A green topic means identical (the same as)oblivion Esm a white topic means its totally new added content.

 

The ones you need to check are the yellow topics in the greetings and hello and possibly goodbye topics. When you click on those lines you will see the original and modified dialogues in the right hand side of your screen. If you drag the original dialogue over the modified dialogue the topic should turm green = original to oblivion Esm. The first time you try this it will ask are you sure you want to change this just click yes.

 

Make sure to save once you have changed all the topics you want to change (CTRL and S to save).

As it turns out, it actually was Adult Play Plus for SSP that was causing the problems. So I just fixed it up, removing the dialogue edits from it. Thanks for the help.

 

Say, would you happen to know the appropriate place in my load order to put those mods that BOSS didn't recognize, as I had mentioned earlier in the thread?
