Issue with SSE port of H-tongues retextures

The majority of the mod works as intended, but I can't get the retextures to work. (https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/23068?tab=description)

I want "alternative textures and colour overlay 2", and I believe I followed the instructions, which were to download the retexture and manually replace the Tongue bumps.dds.

I tried that, and when it didn't work I did a full uninstall, manually downloaded the original latest version, put the desired textures (in both places) into that mod, re-zipped it, and put that through Nexus Mod Manager, with no noticeable difference. 

 

I don't know much, but it feeeeeels like getting no difference after replacing those files is a bit kooky. Is it an ENB problem or something?

 

(and using the Tonguebumps_n.dds file from the "alternate texture overlay" didn't work either.)

Have you installed MAIN FILE first:

Yes I have. It is the one that currently shows up (I started with it before I realized I wanted a different texture).

Uninstall everything.
Then install the attached file.
The language uses slot 55
