trying to merge a follower mod so it replaces a vanilla NPC

I'm hoping to get this done in xEdit. 

 

The Jessi follower, currently slot 35 in my load order, has a custom outfit and uses a KS hairdo.

I'm not sure how to get this record to take the place of Aela the Huntress:

Ideally I just want to change the face/hair/body/outfit, and of course leave the rest as-is so my quests stay intact.

 

Somewhere I read its something about copying Aela as override into new esp, then copying Jessi as new form into that new esp, and something about changing Aela's NPC template to use Jessi record...

 

But I'm not getting it - anyone happen to know exactly how to do it?

So what you want to do is Copy Aela as an override into the follower mod

 

Then in the template field TPLT for Aela put the Form id for the follower

 

Then in the Template flags right click to set the items that will be copied from the follower to Aela

If you do not want the follower walking around you will need to go into either the cell or the world space and delete the temporary location that is marked for placing the NPC
