hussainmushahid Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FiTK5xO0GqA&feature=youtu.be Can be seen near the shoulder. What possibly could be causing this outline/shadow flickering issue and how to fix it ? I don't remember having this problem when I was using an Nvidia card but then again maybe its just my poor memory skills. System specification: i3 530 7850 2GB 12GB DDR3 RAM 1920X1080 reso I've tried with and without ENBs but still have the same issue. Any help will be appreciated.
polluxval Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 search for: fShadowBiasScale setting in the SkyrimPref.ini (make a backupcopy just in case) increase the amount, example: fShadowBiasScale = 0.1000 change it to 0.5000 thas only one possible fix, if doesnt work report the result here to search for another way.
hussainmushahid Posted February 13, 2013 Author Posted February 13, 2013 The shadow flickering problem has significantly reduced but I still have this problem https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wBu_IhkKLvY&feature=youtu.be (look at the neck)
cornbreadtm Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 Try this. It's the shadow stripping fix by Miral. It's hidden on Nexus for some reason even though it works great in my game. I'm guessing they stopped modding.

polluxval Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 the shadow stripping its just for indoors so it wont help you there. mmmm... try increasing the bias and also make this changes: iBlurDeferredShadowMask=20 iShadowMapResolutionSecondary=2048iShadowMapResolutionPrimary=2048 iShadowSplitCount=2 iShadowFilter=3 iShadowMode=4bTreesReceiveShadows=1bDrawLandShadows=1bDrawShadows=1 the 2048 can be changed to 4096 "and also be aware that this settings could reduce FPS". report your results.
hussainmushahid Posted February 13, 2013 Author Posted February 13, 2013 it has become less noticeable but the problem is still there.
Vioxsis Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 What about your anti aliasing settings? are they being done by the game or your gfx card?
hussainmushahid Posted February 13, 2013 Author Posted February 13, 2013 What about your anti aliasing settings? are they being done by the game or your gfx card? AA is set to application controlled in driver and handled by ENB in skyrim(meaning set to off in skyrim settings) I tried without ENB with skyrim AA but that didn't fix it either.
Vioxsis Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 Try disabling it in enb and skyrim and have it be done by your gfx card, start with x2 then x4 and then x8, see if that makes any difference.
Uriel Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 You can't use hardware AA with modern ENB's. Some effects will be automatically disabled. Also, this flickering is how Skyrim's shadows work.
polluxval Posted February 13, 2013 Posted February 13, 2013 ok. i dont have any flicker so here is my skyrimprefs.ini (im using enb) just take some of the config (shadows). dont take it all unless you want. Uriel Posted February 14, 2013 Posted February 14, 2013 I'll try it. BTW, i know Skyrim runs visually better with iPresentInterval=0, but it will cause weird shit in your game after some time.
hussainmushahid Posted February 14, 2013 Author Posted February 14, 2013 The issue was still there even after using the ini settings provided above and doing a clean re install of the game. Most probably seems to me like a ATI driver issue, will play around with settings and report back. This problem is highly noticeable without ENBs.
hussainmushahid Posted February 14, 2013 Author Posted February 14, 2013 Looks like the settings given in this mod pretty much fixed my issue. http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/148 Thank you everyone for your help especially polluxval
