Is there any way to rearrange the position of an item in a CAS menu?

There are a bunch of different types of custom items that just get tossed into "Skin Details" with no filters to sort them by. It would be really nice if I could rearrange them so that the skin overlays are all clustered together, the nose masks are all next to each other, the different types of freckles are all in the same place, and so forth. Is there any way to do that?

I don't have a problem with editing the packages, as long as it doesn't cause problems elsewhere. Can you be a little more precise about how to do that? I tried changing the number in the Display Index field in Sims4Studio, and some of them didn't move anywhere different, but the last one I tried is just not showing up in Skin Details at all anymore (even after I changed the number back and deleted localthumbcache).

1 is the top 999 is bottom.

Oddly enough, every one I've looked at so far has been numbered either 0 or -1.

...So yeah, I picked one that only had a single CAS part, changed the Display Index to 100 (hoping it would show up at the bottom), clicked Save, deleted localthumbcache just to be safe, and when I went back into the game, absolutely nothing had changed about where it was positioned. Anything else I could try?

I mean ... I tell you to use 999 and you use 100 :) . So yeah, you could try using 999. It works for me. It might not be completely at the top or bottom(I dont know how the game decides the order for things with the same value), but it does change position.

That could have some value. I played around with Sims4Studio a little more and figured out that the "BodyType" setting is the primary driver of placement in the Skin Details menu (because they are separate "slots," as that mod illuminates), and then changing Display Index affects how it's sorted in relation to other items of the same type. So if you take all the full-body overlays and set them to SkinDetailCreaseForehead (because that's the first type in the menu) and set the Display Index to -10 (so they'll show up before any actual forehead creases you might have in there), that will put on the overlays at the top like I was trying to do. But I think I'll download that mod as well, because I sometimes find it tricky keeping track of which skin detail items will undo others that were already selected.

...Yep, I gave it a try, and it is super helpful. Since the game has a very narrow set of types for Skin Details and most CC don't fit into any of them (I bet the developers never imagined there would be so many hairline mods), the modders just pick any random category arbitrarily, so from the user's perspective, it doesn't make any sense when one item preempts another that's actually a completely different type of thing. Seeing the different slots displayed makes it so much more clear. Now if only there was a mod that showed the package name of a CAS item so you could know where to find it if you want to tweak those settings (without having to equip it then save the household so you can look for it in TrayImporter).

1) You didn't tell me to use 999, you just said 999 is the bottom.

2) Setting it to 100 still would've been enough if changing the DisplayIndex was the right solution and everything else was set to 0.

3) I already figured it out anyway. Like I said in the previous comment, it's more important to change BodyType than DisplayIndex.

Because you didnt specify where you want the things. Obviously setting them top or bot makes sense. There are much higher indexes than 100 on EA items.

Good for you on figuring it out yourself.
