Baconsama Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 Recently I have reinstalled DarN UI,but a thing that is bothering me is that the font is too big and with bold on,which makes hard to see which items are displayed. Also even though I selected the colored local map function it isn't working. First I only installed by the omod at OBMM,after seeing the problem I unninstaled it and tried manually, which didn't work as well. So now I need either a vanilla replacer/a way to fix the mod/installing another UI. One thing that bothers me is the aditional lag added by the mod,is there another UI that is more pratical than the original but still doesn't/gives few lag? Thanks.
gregathit Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 I recommend you switch to DarkUId DarN: http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/11280 It is the latest version and has zero lag.
Baconsama Posted February 11, 2013 Author Posted February 11, 2013 I just tried but I got a crash after the first loading, would it be issues with the instalation or the load order?
Sarnaath Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 Something is wrong with your install. Mine doesn't look like that at all. I've installed it through Wrye Bash, which probably means I took the 132 7z archive and converted it to a BAIN install archive. Also, I edited the Obilvion.ini file to use the appropriate fonts. I haven't noticed any lag, but then I didn't use the vanilla UI for more than 2 minutes.
gregathit Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 Back to basics, have you installed OBSE and are you using obse_loader.exe to start your game? If you are using the oblivion launcher then it is making a new oblivion.ini file each time and it will completely break any UI plugin you install. If the above shoe doesn't fit then tell us more about your install: 1. Steam or Disc? 2. OBSE v20? 3. OS (win7 or win8 or other)? 4. Installed to program files directory (hopefully not)? Crashes at start up tend to come from missing plugins, stuff out of order, bad\missing ini files.
Sarnaath Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 Crashes at start up tend to come from missing plugins, stuff out of order, bad\missing ini files. Also with DarnUI, failing to make the correct font changes to the obilion.ini will make the game crash on start up. I've done that several times.
Baconsama Posted February 11, 2013 Author Posted February 11, 2013 Gregathit: Disc Latest OBSE Windows 7 I did sadly, just discovered that it wasn't a good idea sometime ago,I can play it in a external HD though, would it be too laggy? (To alter the Oblivion.ini I changed it at ''My Games Directory'',then also replaced the Oblivion.ini at the ini directory at data, don't know if I should delete it,though. Would it help if I put my oblivion.ini here, the load order and the .ini files? EDIT: I noticed that I'm missing the Data\Fonts\Handwritten.fnt ,can anyone upload it? (Actually I think I deleted the whole previous Data/Fonts, if you guys can upload yours here I would be thankful for it)
gregathit Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 I suggest that you reinstall oblivion to: c:\games\ or something like that. Win7 UAC and permissions issues are going to make modding a real pain in the ass if you leave it there. Reinstalling will restore your fonts. The only changes to the oblivion.ini that really matter are the ones in your my games folder. My point was that you need to make sure you are launching the game either with obse_loader.exe or with Wrye Bash. If you don't then OBSE is not getting enabled and most of your plugins won't work right. Also as I pointed out if you use the vanilla oblivion launcher then it overwrites your oblivion.ini file and will screw up your game. Don't ever use the oblivion launcher UNLESS you need to redo your ini (which is a very rare need).
Baconsama Posted February 11, 2013 Author Posted February 11, 2013 I always run with OBSE loader, and in rare cases I have issues with the directory allowance, but seriously the instalation CD isn't with me right now,can you please upload the Handwritten.fnt? I'm almost sure it's all I need to get the game running normally again. Besides I checked the backup files and none of them have the fonts folder, quite odd.
Sarnaath Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 The handwritten font is in Oblivion - Misc.bsa. I don't have it installed in the Data/fonts folder. The only files I have in that folder are the 10 DarN font files.
Baconsama Posted February 11, 2013 Author Posted February 11, 2013 I found it but how to extract the Handwritten.fnt from it? Or do I just set the destination of the font in the ini into the .bsa archive?
gregathit Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 Look at the destination in the bsa archive and set the path to it. No need to extract anything.
Baconsama Posted February 11, 2013 Author Posted February 11, 2013 Sorry I don't know how to patch,I extracted the Misc.bsa into a temporary folder then I tried again, placing the Handwritten.fnt at the Fonts folder and modifying the Oblivion.ini but it crashed as well,I'll try the OMOD installation and overwrite everything. It improved a lot, thanks to both gregathit and Sarnaath for the help,I appreciate it! =) And amazing how it has almost no delay comparing to the vanilla.
Sarnaath Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 I found it but how to extract the Handwritten.fnt from it? Or do I just set the destination of the font in the ini into the .bsa archive? The handwritten front setting in my oblivion.ini file is like this: SFontFile_5=Data\Fonts\Handwritten.fnt
Baconsama Posted April 16, 2013 Author Posted April 16, 2013 Well...although the bold font is ok already the font is too big to fit well the inventory and load screen UI,I'm using the Oblivion.ino configurations as mentioned, how can I put the font smaller so it won't be weird and confusing?
