Constant sheathing/unsheathing during combat (solved)

Hello everyone, I have encountered a bug I haven't quite been able to resolve. More often than not, whenever there is combat, NPCs keep unsheathing their weapons, putting them back and then they start this nonsense all over again. Sometimes they manage to land a couple of hit before going through this bug. It happens with every actor, warriors, mages and even creatures, they just stop being hostile for a second, engage in combat and then they start all over again. This didn't happen at all with my previous characters, it only started with my new one yesterday.
Unfortunately I didn't keep the old saves so I can't check whether I can replicate it there, but I tried making another new character and this behaviour is still present.

I honestly cannot figure out what is causing this, I haven't really changed my load order that much. At first I thought it was due to Scent of Sex, but I tried removing it and starting anew but no luck, NPCs were still schizophrenic.

The only things I changed were a couple of SKSE plugins that I updated, namely "Yes I'm Sure" and "Stay at the system page - updated", I also updated "AddItemMenu" and added "Pick up books simple", "Eloquent Reader", "SpellScribe" and "Outlaws Refuges". I also removed "Skyrim Immersive Creatures" and related patches, it kept crashing my game whenever I saved after killing specific creatures.

I don't have the .esp of the Particle Patch because the nexus page said not to use it, and I haven't noticed any problems on that front. I did clean the vanilla .esm-s and ran my tools, LOOT, Wrye Bash and FNIS.

Any ideas? Load order under the spoiler tag. I apologize if it's been asked before, I haven't been able to find the thread.

EDIT: Solved it, I had some time and fiddled around with the load order and found it really was "Pick up books simple". I removed it and only had that problem a couple times, but now it seems to have gone away for good. I still do not know why I had these two new instances, but hey, at least I can have proper fights now. I have no clue why that mod caused all this baggage, I guess it was the whole "associate book reading to having your weapons out" malarkey.

 

EDIT2: I re-installed Scent of Sex, and it, too, caused this bug. I have no clue why and I don't have the energy to troubleshoot it, it's just beyond me, I'll leave it here in the unlikely case someone else has my problem. Which is a shame, that mod looks damn good.

I've had this issue for so long and i'd basicly given up on ever fixing it, turned out it was Pick up books that was causing it. Thank you so much for updating your post, you just saved my game.  I know this topic is over a year old but after going through hundreds off other topics and potential fixes this is the only one that actually worked.
