[solved - DynamicLeveledLists caused the issue] LevelUp Crash?

Recommended Posts

So I've recently returned to Oblivion. Had it purchased for Win7 via GoG and it was working well enough. Even had some mods set up. Now I've switched to Win10 and upgraded some engine related things, also changed out a few mods.

However, I've been getting a weird crash upon levelling up after gaining the first few levels. If I want to level up at a bed, I crash. This now happens every time, both when loading an existing character, as well as using a new character as well as both indoors and outdoors. I can save and load normally, so I am ruling out a save corruption.

I've already tried a number of solutions, so far, none have worked.

Modlist (it's not straight boss but it doesn't look out of place either)

What I have tried:

Oblivion.ini - generated anew, checked for STrackLevelUpPath=\\vault\TES4\LevelData\ and cleared the entry appropriatly.

OblivionReloaded.ini - checked for Resting options (also disabled OR completely)

esp files - disabled all new files to make sure they are not causing the issue. So far, I haven't found anything.

OBSE.log looks clean, except for a possible LAPF_Ex_Patch save bloat (will have to check that later) and Menuque listed as being old and incompatible (using version 1.6b according to nexus).

I've also made a few changes to accomodate Oblivion now running on Win10 (such as OBSR changes). The game itself runs... good enough I suppose, didn't have any other crashes even with playing for 2 hours straight.

Aside from reinstalling the game, I'm a bit stumped what the issue might be, so hopefully you can provide me some additional insight. Thank you very much! :)

Can you sleep at all? Can you sleep several times in a row? Can you do Through A Nightmare, Darkly?

This may be a longshot:

Check for a 'User'\AppData\Local\Oblivion\Plugins.txt

If it exists, it may be your 'real' plugins list, and your mod manager of choice doesn't update it.

Check it against your load order.

If nothing works, you might work around the problem with a mod that allows you to level up without sleeping.

Kobu's Character Advancement System does this, for example (although it also does a bunch of other stuff you may not want).

Hm. I haven't checked if I can do that. But now that I've leveled up it didn't let me sleep without levelling. Also checked the filepath, it exists, and looks like it should. No wrong plugins detected there. :)

The good news is, I've found the cause. DynamicLeveledLists was the culprit. Looks like it wasn't compatible with something, or didn't generate its lists properly. Removed the mod, now everything runs fine.

Thanks for your time and suggestions, greatly appreciated. :)
