LordJerle Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 I recently ordered a new PC, it's set to arrive next week, and I plan on doing a stress test with Skyrim just to see how well it performs. The PC system specs are as follows: * AMD FX-4100 Bulldozer (Zambezi) 3.6GHz (Quad Core) 32nm, AM3+ 8MB Cache * AMD FX High Performance Liquid Cooling system * MSI 760GM-P23 (FX) AM3+, Onboard Video, GB LAN * 8GB (2x4GB) PC12800 DDR3 1600 Dual Channel * GeForce GT 640 2GB PCI EXpress 16X dual head, HDMI * 1000.0 GB Hitachi / Toshiba 7200RPM SATA3 6GB/s 32m cache * Realtek HD digital audio (onboard) * Ethernet network adapter (onboard) * Cooler Master Elite 311 black, Side Window, front USB * Logisys 600W ATX Power Supply, SLI & X-fire ready * Windows 7 64 bit. Anyway, I was wondering if anybody had any suggestions as far as mods go to tweak the models and graphics to enhance my experience on my new rig? (Edited to make it easier to read the specs)
tagalong Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 I have 2gb of vram with my card as well. I use the Bethesda hd textures, simm textures (overwrite beth textures), vurts trees/floral, pure waters, ore viens, cbbe for women and better males with K enb. A few other mods with textures like better fungus, rocks, sky etc, runs well for me. If you want specifics or have questions, let me know.
LordJerle Posted February 7, 2013 Author Posted February 7, 2013 Pre downloading some of these for quick installation when I get my computer all set up. What I have so far: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/141 - Skyrim Flora Overhaul http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/607 - Skyrim HD 2K Textures http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/30450 - Realistic Lighting Overhaul Any suggestions as to more or alternatives? I guess the issue is just as much, do you think the new system can HANDLE high res mods?
tagalong Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 Your pc should be able to handle highres textures. I'd recommend making a backup of the Skyrim folder in mydocuments/mygames as well as the steam folder before doing too much (also helps with Bethesda updates if they prove to be problematic with mods you enjoy) . I don't use Skyrim HD 2k Textures, but it seems many prefer them over the Beth textures. http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/4955 Insect textures http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/2146 Serious Landscape HD retextures http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/8655 Static Mesh improvement mod http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/60 Enhanced Blood Textures http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/193 Glowing Ore Veins Those are a few of the textures I use. I'd also recommend going on the Nexus and taking a look at their top 100 most endorsed mods (non-adult) for others.
