RebelInfernal Posted January 14, 2020 Posted January 14, 2020 I'm not really worried about the computer itself being able to handle the game, as far as I can understand anyway, but Skyrim itself seems to be wildly unstable recently. For context, I recently managed a fifty hour game almost without a single problem before load screens were massively slowed down, which happened when I installed some new armour mods and made some changes to several esp's. However, I actually removed quite a few mods (Zaz pack, armours, animations and the Wenches series) and crashed twice within an hour of a new game. So now I'm wondering, does HDT particularly affect the game itself, would it make a difference if I removed it? Or is it fine as long as the computer can handle it? On a related note actually, are there any mods or types of mods that will particularly make a difference? Apologies if this is a simple question but I'm pretty clueless about this sort of thing, and it can't hurt to ask.
Guest Posted January 14, 2020 Posted January 14, 2020 HDT is not bad for stability. Of course it uses more computing power, so if you are on a Potato PC better to avoid it. But for sure it is complex to get it right with HDT. Removing mods can have an impact on your loads. Especially for some mods. After you uninstall a mod and you are in a similar situation, try to clean up the save game removing whatever was related to the removed mods. (Actually it is easier to do it when the mod is still installed. Remove the mod AFTER you clean up the same with the mod installed.)
RebelInfernal Posted January 14, 2020 Author Posted January 14, 2020 Ok, thanks. Don't need to worry about cleaning the save game since I'm starting a new game, but its good to know HDT isn't killing my game. Right now I'm just trying to trim down the stuff I don't use like animations, a few magic overhauls I've accidentally installed together, a few other small bits and pieces. A few of them had scripts that would have been running so I'm hoping this game will last the full playthrough for once!

Are you searching for hdt related mod causing crash or hdt related mod that would be good adding to your game ?

Ones that would cause crashing mainly, just to cut down on any problems I may have in my installed mod set.

Well in general hdt mods don't cause a lot of CTD. But otherwise, talking about my modding "experience", all-in-one hdt mod can use a lot of compurter ressources. Else I don't know.
