Spells glowing too bright

Hey all, got a small issue that I've actually never solved since it never bothered me until I tried making front screenshots while using spells. Look at the picture and you'll know what I mean. The spells don't have to be cast, it's enough to have them "drawn" to get this extreme light effect, and it affects all spells that don't use custom (non vanilla) lights and effects. It only happens in third person, never in ego perspective. Also, torches emit those crazy lights as well, but forges or campfires do not.

I've tried disabling ELFX and all it's related mods, though as you can see in the screenshots, it does not change even on a new save. So that's not the culprit.

Could it be an ENB thing? I think I've had this before using any ENB but I'm not very sure, I'm gonna try disabling it while waiting for other tips.

Yea makes sense, googled it, someone pointed it out too. But how does one change it to work without the character glowing? Or do I have to deactivate it completely and if so, how?

Depends on your other settings, but tweaking it is probably necessary.

 

It can be deactivated fully from the ENB menu (shift + enter usually opens the menu, then look under effects and it will have a checkmark next to complexparticlelights.  Flip that off to know for sure that is the source of the issue).  I would recommend opening console first to avoid random movements and attacks.  You could also use "tfc1" in console from 3rd person view to freeze the scene as you work on it.

Yes, this is the right approach. I started with setting everything to 1 under complexparticlelights and it solved the problem entirely. Now I just gotta find the right settings to make it look better. Thank you very much!

 

Edit: I disabled "BigRange" under "ComplexFireLights" and that fixed it. Nothing else had to be touched. Thanks again.

Glad it worked for you.  Just a note: the main reason to use the BigSettings option is for some "ENB Billboard" effects mods that make glowing things (like Chaurus Egg Piles) project light.  As long as you aren't using those types of mods, there shouldn't be an issue.

 

I do use mods like that and found that significantly increasing the fade values and decreasing the overall effect values did the trick.

 

As far as "making it look better", so much of ENB presets are subjective that it is hard to give any useful advice there.  For instance, last night I tested out a very popular ENB for screenshots and hated it -- even though I really liked the screenarchery that used it.
