SecondLife Alternatives?

So I found SecondLife and it is free and that's cool, but it is also got a huge paywall community and I don't really like that.  Is there any better similar things out there that anybody can recommend?

Yeah.  I like the 'make an avatar, explore and meet people and (possibly) fuck' idea, but there's a BIG difference between free "free" and buy this the one time and you're all good.

 

I'd like something new and different, but along the same lines as Secondlife, if that makes sense?

There are many stuff you can get in SL, many places with free stuff, not always as good, but you can find decent avatars. Today i stumbled over an offer for a male and a female avatar for 1 L$.  

 

But to your real question, i dont think there is a real good alternative. There is this OSGrid, but i think there you also need some coins there.

You could setup your own http://opensimulator.org/wiki/Main_Page grid and visit other grids.

Unless they changed stuff there is no money needed for OSgrid.
