So I'm making a nice little sex survival type game in the udk now, but I wanted to know what type of camera is preferred. I've narrowed it down to either an FPS or Over the shoulder 3rd person view similar to the more recent resident evil games. I can go either way, and my buddy that was requesting it, isn't too sure either.

So with all that said, I want your opinions pls :D

edit

I'll be more open with the details (for those interested) once I finish up the Concept Doc for the game in a day or two.

Like how Fallout and Elder scrolls works with the camera would please both types ... scroll all the way in for FPS and out for OTS

First person that shows body works best imo.

Something like http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/6002

Not sure if it's something doable though

Yeah in the udk that's possible, and has already been done. So it's no biggie for me lol. Let me know if that changes anyone's opinion on the FPS vs Third Person debate.

edit

added some pics of those sexy FPS body shots lol. Just using udk assets for the time being so bear with me here. Still working on the 3rd person camera, so it'll be a little longer for pics of that.

One more day of polling and I'm going to choose which to use. So vote now if you haven't already ;)

btw

Is there a way to remove a poll to start a new one or do I need to make a new thread for that? Thanks in advance for your help :)

edit

Guess no one knows? lol

btw

adding a wip screen for the 3rd person view

Who is the protagonist? I was assuming you play as a female, but the screenshot shows some kind of robot or alien in spacesuit.

@Wisdomcube: lol, I know that code/source :)

What is your skillset?

Rather then work on a single game/scenario, perhaps you'd rather build it using Kismet based on core game (SHAG)?

EDIT: Oh, and I'd go with the combo too.

It is not like you need to worry about people cheating with a third person view in a FPS style game.

The robot is just a placeholder until I get to modeling things. The main character(s) will be female though. As for why I'm being so vague about things, I just wouldn't want to throw out ideas/features that I may not be able to accomplish. Basically, I don't want to get your hopes up and then end up dashing them quite splendidly lol.

Hmm, never heard of Shag, so I may have to look into that. Thanks for the info :)

Oh and my skill set? I can model/texture/level design and I know enough to usually get around in kismet. Unreal script is new to me though (I usually have my buddy do it), so I'm working through figuring that out now. Still making steady progress though ;)

edit

all that said, I may make a thread covering everything as I make it with a little bit about the projects goals/ideas/etc.
