How can we set fonts in posts now?

With the latest forum update, we seem to have lost the ability to select a font.

 

This was a very useful feature, that allowed code snippets and similar text to be formatted with a FIXED-WIDTH font.

Or you could format mid-line, with monospace to indicate a variable name in help information, etc.

 

Now it seems, we can't do that without recourse to the awful clunky "CODE" feature that puts the monospaced section into a special highlighted block.

This isn't ideal, as it can't be edited like regular text, as simple monospaced text could, and you can't embed it mid-line either.

 

This seems like a step backwards. Is there a way to re-enable the font drop-down on the post-editor?

At the moment no, it is not possible.

But we will try to improve.

Be aware also the size of the font is gone and the ability to color the text.

I can still color and resize text foreground color.

As you can see.

But not the background. That's gone.

Superscript and subscript are missing too, but I didn't use them much. The^bbcode versions_work.

 

Font menu is the one I'm feeling the lack of.

 

 

Indent

and

Outdent

have gone too. Which I use a

lot

in longer posts.

 

As you can see, using the bbcode tag for indent produces some weird results that are completely useless.

All that stuff was written on a single line! Also, when you go to edit it the tags are gone, so you can't outdent without deleting it all, or other trickery.

 

If you can configure the HTML the bbcode tags generate, this could be fixed?

Also font tags work in bbcode, but you can't edit them sensibly afterwards either.

 

Previews don't really work either. Sometimes one works. Not sure why they behave randomly.

bbcode for tables doesn't work at all.

Previously it was sort of possible to paste them into posts, but impossible to edit them. That might still be the case.

 

I do hope we can get our features back; this feels like a major downgrade.
