How do you change facial expressions?

I've seen numerous pictures of Skyrim screenshots with facial expressions that I've never seen in game' date=' myself.

Is there a mod or command that does this?

Actually there is a console command to change facial expression (mood), but you can't set the strength of the expression with it:

setav mood

(amount is an integer from 0 to 7). For example "setav mood 3" (without quotes) will put a happy face on your character (actor should be selected, otherwise you should use player.setav).

Here's detailed information on actor values http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Tes5Mod:Actor_Value_Indices

Is there anything that has influence on how the expressions look (like the femaleheadcharge.tri file) or do the expressions from Puppeteer and mood magic just naturally look that goofy (especially the smiling/happy expression)?

As far as I understand the information from tri-files (morphs) is exactly what the game uses to animate faces.

There is a tool on Nexus that popped up few days ago: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/30162' date=' it allows to modify existing tri-files and create new ones.

And there is also a tutorial for Blender users (different tool): http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/14589/

How would you get facial expressions such as the ones in these images?

Have you tried those console commands mentioned above?

As for these screenshots it looks like "fear" or "sad" or maybe "surprised" mood to me.

Try this:

player.setav mood 2

or

player.setav mood 4

or

player.setav mood 5

This mod does at least improve the most common vanilla ones, no complete new ones though:

All I can say is, a smile is now really a smile. No beast race and orc support though.

It conflicts with the ZazAnimation pack and maybe every other mods that uses gags. The animations will override each other, but the above mod is easy and fast installable and deinstallable.
