Is there a mod that will assign all the armors to random NPCs?

It could be done, you'd have to create outfits in the CK and have a script assign those outfits to NPCs as you change locations. If someone does that though, make sure it doesn't assign high armor value outfits to low level bandits or your early game may become impossible.

Personally I have wondered what it would take to just get the player to switch to a "Home" outfit when they enter their house and to give an option of outfits to wear as they leave the house (shopping/everyday, armor, dress clothes, smithing...). The game was set up with the idea of a sleeping outfit but Bethesda never finished that idea though some mods have tried to implement it.

I see lots of mods that have great' date=' sexy armors in them, but normally they seem to be armors that you use on your character.

But, is there a way/mod out there that will take all the armor mods you have and randomly assign them to NPCs? For example, I'd like to explore a world where random NPCs are wearing these armors: http://www.loverslab.com/showthread.php?tid=8225

You might be able to find a few custom armor replacers on the nexus but they most likely won't be the armors you want. You could always do what I do and make your own armor replacer set. For example I use most of the armors from ledo4ek found here:

The way I have it set up is all npcs wear custom armors and clothing by default.

Here's a quick example. The npc Ysonda looks for her clothing in the farmcloth01 directory (Data\meshes\clothes\farmclothes01). In that directory take your custom clothing and rename it to torsof_0.nif and torsof_1.nif. If you do that now Ysonda will wear the new armor but no textures will show up. To fix this its very simple, copy the new armors textures to your data/textures folder like any other mod. Now Ysondas armor textures will show up correctly in game and any npc that wears clothing from clothing01 will wear the same armor.

One last thing to add is changing armor and clothing this way does not change armor values. Hope this helps.

That's a really good idea hope this post get's some attention I'd like to see that get done.Although there is still the problem of auto equipped items losing there effects until manually equipped again, which would be a problem for my smithing set.

You can replace the regular game outfits with mod outfits. That's what I do, I've replaced every female outfit in the game with ones that I think are sexy/cool. If you don't how to do it it's very easy:

Get a BSA viewer/extractor (easy to find just google it) and look in the skyrim meshes BSA for clothes and armor. You don't need to extract it, just view it to see what the files and folders are named. Make folders with the same names in your skyrim Data folder, move the files from the outfits you want to use into them and change the names to what you want to replace. Only do this with the Meshes, you don't need to change the names/folders of the Texture files.

Check out a replacer mod like Killer Keo's on the nexus. He's already done a lot of the work for you, you can replace the files in his folders with whatever you want, all you have to do is change the names.

EDIT: I see somebody already explained this while I was typing :)

Interesting. If I use the armors Render uses and loot the clothes off the person will it have a normal body underneath?

Sorry, this is probably a newbie question.
