Game stutters exactly every 60 seconds.

Hey everyone, I've been dealing with the slightly annoying problem for a while that my SSE has a little stutter from time to time, otherwise it runs completely smooth, 60fps never CTD, etc.

 

I tried timing the stutters, and was surprised to find out the appear exactly every 60 seconds, no exceptions whatsoever, even being in a menu wouldn't stop the timer from running (so even when in menu the stutter would appear, noticeable by fps drop).

 

I tried setting al timers from different mods to something other than 60 seconds in the MCM, but to no effect. The stutter is not unlike what would occur on an autosave, so it really seems something is updated/saved etc. on a one minute interval. Also the fact that the timer continues to run even when in menu might exclude any in-game cooldowns or checks handled by mods? (im not much of a modder, but this seems logical to me?). So stuff I can think of are SKSE plug-ins or something Reshade does...(?), I've tried looking at SKSE ini files, but can't find anything that might do something every 60 seconds.

 

I've attached a picture of the SKSE plugins/files I'm using according to MO2, and below is my modlist. So the million dollar question; anyone have an idea what might be causing it?

 

Any help would be greatly appreciated!, Google isn't of much help on this one...

This could be OS related. For instance something like a scan, or a scheduled task running in the background.

Hm hadn't considerred that, thanks for thinking along, but a quick check of all processes/virus scanners etc. doesn't show anything it could be unfortunately. Also it's very specific for skyrim SE, other more demanding games don't have the same problem, Skyrim VR being the best example because its practically the same game I guess.

 

Funny enough the only mention of any game having a 60 second stutter I could find on google was fallout 4....(what are the odds), with a complete reinstall and deletion of local files solving the problem:S

 

One more thing I might add: If I time it a few times in sequence, it takes just a tiny tiny bit longer than 60 seconds for the next stutter to occur, as if the time lost in the stutter adds up to the 60 second time interval.

I'm searching for any info on this issue and your post has been the only thing describing it. I've noticed that this happens after I come any close to Fort Hraggstad. Noticed the stutter, decided to reload a previous save and started to narrow down the reason/cause of this. I can 100% confirm that this is specifically in-game and my saves prior to visiting that area are fine. Save size is 12,7MB so it's definitely not a bloated one. Tried cleaning the save of any rogue scripts, nothing helped. Checked every effect, script, quest - nothing indicates that a timer of 60 seconds is running that would cause this.

 

The only mod changing anything in the area is Interesting NPCs. I will make a new character and coc there, maybe this happens only later in the playthrough.

 

If anyone can report any further findings, maybe we could solve this mystery...?

I'm having this same problem.  After a LOT of searching, I've found a few solutions that worked for other people (though not for me).

1.  If you have your desktop set to slideshow, set it to something else.  One guy's stutter was caused by his desktop changing pics every 60 seconds.

2.  See if any other programs are doing something every 60 seconds.  If you monitor your processes in Task Manager and see an increase in CPU usage every 60 seconds from some application, that's probably the issue.  (Worked for someone using a specific app and having this problem in all games.)

3.  Uninstall and delete local files, then reinstall.  This worked for at east one person in Fallout 4.

I have almost the same issue, but it's every 64 seconds for me. It stutters even if I pause the game (go into menus), the stutter remains. But the rhythm resets if I minimise the game and then open it again.
