Any 1st person mods that work without major issues?

So AFAIK there's Joy Of Perspective, IFPV, and Improved 1st Person Camera (now ambigiously called "Improved Camera" - who thought that's a good idea?). And AFAIK all of them have gamebreaking issues. By gamebreaking i don't mean i.e. head shadows not displaying or stuff like that, but things actually interfering with playing the game.

Joy Of Perspective AFAIK has more incompatibilities than one can count - at least that was the status a year ago when i last tried it. Maybe it's different now. Either way, all kinds of mods including XPMSE need compatibility-patches for JOP, and my intuition as a developer says, that means far more things that can go wrong - it all feels very "patchworky".

Improved First Person Camera with some INI-edits seems to work flawlessly, except for one major problem: It randomly breaks my controls. What i mean by that is, mouselook randomly stops working for 0,5-3,0 seconds. This usually happens while walking/running, so the result is sporadically losing control of your character, and this can happen in combat (!!!).

IFPV i haven't tried yet, but looking though the comments and bug-reports on nexus, make it seem even less mature than Improved 1st Person Cam.

I'm at a point where i consider just dropping 1st-person mods alltogether. All the problems just don't seem to be worth it.

Closed question, simple answer: No.

I´m using Enhanced camera. It is not completly bug free, but more playable than any other mods for first person view I tried. The ones you mention are known to me. There is the one or the other incompatiblity. This is even more true when using XPMSE in combination with Sexlab Animations and / or the Devious Devices setup. I made ini tweaks. It took some time to have it work, but I didn´t have to change code.

The best thing working flawlessly this far for me is having diabled the XPMSE.esp but still have the scripts activated.

Interesting - i haven't tried that yet (disabling the XPMSE-esp, but letting the SKSE-scripts run). I don't need that "styles"-framework of XPMSE anyways, so if the skellie still works properly, and turns out fixing the mouselook-issue on my end, that would be great. Will give this a try - thanks for the idea!

Report after 3 hours testing:

The good news is, disabling the XMPSE-plugin indeed seems to have fixed the control-issues.

The bad news: I just encountered a reproducable CTD, caused by incompatibility between Improved Camera and Violens Killmoves. I reloaded a recent save to replay a bandit-fight 3 times, and each time on the last enemy, when i was about to land the finishing hit, i got a CTD instead. The moment i disabled improved camera, the killmove worked without CTD.

Some datapoints:

- I was in 3rd-person view

- Violens was set to only show 3rd-person killmoves

- Improved Cam was set to NOT interfere with killmoves.

So, for my personal setup this is the final straw: Out with 1st Person Mods, in with Vanilla.
