I want to start learning create mods. I dont know they are same for all games but I want to create for Skyrim SE or Skyrim oldrim.. I have an idea turning skyrim to harry potter game.. I know its really big thing for me because I dont know anything about modding.. Actually thats why I wanted your help guys I have lot of free time thats why I want to start from somewhere..

I do want create animations, characters, gameplay changes, textures .... But its only my dream.. I want to make skyrim whole new game but I really dont know how hard is it.. I can work for it whole day.. But real point is I want to hear from modders is that possible? Can I learn all of them? Where should I start? What should I do ..Im really so confused...

If I cant do whole new game its okey but I want to create something special like nagini from harry potter as a follower with full capacity to fight with you..I mean animations, meshes, textures, behaviors bla bla..

Totally from ground zero?

You would have to join a modding team working on their project to get any real help and even then they might not have time to teach you.

Myself I learned by reading Eliminsters guide for Xedit, just go over to Fo4edit or Tes5edit on Nexus...There will be a link to the guide.

The Construction Kit for Skyrim is free and can be downloaded from Steam.

Blender is a free 3d/2d program with many extra's like more current paid software, its available on Steam for Free.

Nifskope is easily found its needed for some work on mesh flags and can be used for simple edits on mesh, its free...It doesn't really have guides, and most people on its forum assume you know at least some of what your doing.

I don't go around looking for guides, unless Im building something specific and need a guide/idea.  So I have no idea if there are guides out there for stuff, well that's not entirely true...Kingath has some guides for Fallout 4 modding, been watching some of his video's.

Making something like Harry Potter...

Nah man, that's too open ended.  Especially for a beginner, you need to narrow your focus way down.

Anyway,

The thing about modding is that it takes loads of time.

I started building my own level list edits for Fallout 3 based on a mod someone made for Raider Armors, now that didn't take a super long time but I had to read up on how Xedit works and that was a big document that covered a lot of subjects about Xedit that I never needed at the time I was reading it.  Bear in mind that the document I was reading didn't have a how to build your leveled list mod in its pages, it was a general usage guide of what its functions did based on and written by a software engineer....So it wasn't exactly an engaging read like a Harry Potter novel, boring as fuck actually it felt like I was reading instructions on how to set and use a satellite dish.

Too be honest that was the best guide I have ever read, as most guides are not well written and don't cover the usage of functions the writer doesn't understand that may be important for your project.

Your post is like, Im going to learn all these skills....Good luck man,

Honestly if you just learned animating, the one skill you would be spending a lot of time, lot of time...Thing is if you learned animating you would have a sellable skill but the thing about knowing how to animate and being a good animator are two different things.  Plenty of people can know how to make an animation or at least know the functions of the program, but fewer people have the eye for making a passable interesting animation for even something as simple as missionary position sex.

But heck if you did grind through that learning process you could turn your excess time into at least a paid hobby by producing sex content for the games.

You wouldn't even have to build the framework that introduces sex into a game, you just make the animations.

Then lets say you just narrowed down your focus to building Hogwarts.

Well now that's called Level Design, thing about that is you would be looking at more than just laying out floor plans, doors, windows, and roofs.  Now you have to layout navmesh, tells where the NPCs can travel...If it has to be more than just a tower you and your npc follower can walk through that gets more involved.

But lets be honest,

A lot of new would be modders just throw up their hands and give up.  They exclaim well I didn't go to school to learn computers or game design that's why I cant do these things!

Well I went to school to learn drawing and painting, I never took one course beyond Microsoft Excell Spreadsheets which I promptly forgot during a college alcohol binge that's still a little fuzzy how long that went on for.

Where is this going....

Well the point is getting a gaming design Batcholers is a waste of time and money.  If your going to school fine, but don't go after something like that when there are mod teams taking people on that are actually doing big ass projects that will wind up having 2 million people playing something you worked on.  Your not going to get that on your resume from some school you get that by actually going and getting to work on a big project that is going on now.

So big projects are...

Fallout Miami,

Fallout Cascadia

Fallout London,

Fallout 3 remake

Fallout New Vegas remake

Beyond Skyrim

Skywind

SkyBlivion

There you go.

Thanks for your reply I think I know its not easy enough now...

Lets just forget about harry potter thing and focus something small but special..Like creating some animal follower from zero(I mean not something changed visiual but still horse I hope u understand) like nagi from harry or even some bird that flys arround you and tells you where enemy is.. I think I dont need to learn those things so deeply..I mean little bit animation for bird, textures ,script(i dont even know what is it) and maybe skills.. There are some people have done smiliar those things.. How they did that.. I mean is that really so hard because if I focus animations for example I cant do anything but sex animations..Cause I dont even know how to add my animation to something like eating because eating doesnt have animation in game so I need to learn scripting for this right?

I dont know Im really confused..I really want to create things for me and for comunity and I have lot of time but its really hard to start and decide what to do.. Thanks for your comment..

I have no idea how to build a follower mod off the top of my head.

I didn't have any idea how to build my first leveled list mod either.

If I wanted to make a follower,

I would open an already existing follower mod up in the Construction Kit or Xedit and have a look at what makes it work.

Thing is that I would also use my internet to search for information.

I wouldn't default to asking on a forum like this where the emphasis is on using sex mods.

Most people that get onto making mods, get started first with downloading and using other peoples mods in their games....Which itself is a discipline that takes getting familiar with a lot of language modders use and also gets you familiar with file structures and formats.

Example I didn't start using Xedit to build mods, no I started using Xedit to make patches or to examine if a set of mods was in fact going to work together and I was serious enough that I read the guide that was linked in the Xedit description page.

Now you sound like you don't know anything and need a lot more help than Im actually willing to provide cause it will mean that I have to invest a lot of my time investigating the answers for you, all the while there are modding teams that exist right now that are in fact willing to teach the skills your going to need to make your own mods.

So its a bit ridiculous to have to repeat it again but here goes,

In your internet search provider look for these projects,

Fallout Miami,

Fallout Cascadia

Fallout London,

Fallout 3 remake

Fallout New Vegas remake

Beyond Skyrim

Skywind

SkyBlivion

Those groups have large amounts of people working on them and may have a need for extra hands.

Other than that you might try the Nexus Modding Forums.

Kinggath author of Sim Settlements has video modding tuts on Youtube, its for Fallout 4, thing is the CK hasn't changed that much and whats important are the practices.

Your often going to have to figure things out on your own too, but that might be a good place to start since Kinggath is current right now!

I know, its not Harry Potter.

Thing is if you were to follow along with these videos you'd be 10 times better off than where you are now.

Chances are your not going to find exactly what your looking for and or people to help you with exactly what your looking for.

You gotta learn on something, and this guy is current...MEaning you can actually get ahold of him and ask questions about the tools and practices while your working on your mod.  Now of course it may mean making a Fallout sim settlement item but those same skills are going to go a long way towards helping you on your own projects.

It may also be less commitment than a big mod project.

But as far as my experience, its digging around the internet looking for guides.

I once followed a German video to make a costume for Skyrim...I don't speak German at all.

Why a German video, he was the only guy posting video's on how to make outfits for Skyrim in Blender.

But these days you have modding teams with hundreds of people, from all different nations...So it may be possible to get involved in a project to pick up skills by providing your labor.

Thank you for your time and help Im really so happy that someone helped me and showed me the way.. Im on this way and I hope I can reach some point..But I belive my self ..Also thank you again you are only one care about my problem in loverslab..Maybe if I posted my nude I would got more attention but anyway...

Gameplayer is 100% spot on about his advice and spelled it out both simply and elegantly.  The problem on this site is not about gaining attention by posting nude pictures, but the complexity and particulars of a question or request. The majority of people here are highly intelligent and largely advanced in their fields of expertise, regarding their mod specialties. Many are off using those talents to build mods, and don't have a lot of time for hand-holding. This is not to be taken as a slight regarding those wishing to start somewhere, it's just how a lot of the world works. For example, you don't find too many professional tennis players taking on and teaching a student who has never played tennis - they are always playing against equal or better opponents to bring up their skills, so as not to lose their edge. Unless they are retired or feel like teaching a class, they don't usually take the time to groom an individual student. Which is why a simple search will yield most learning links on the subject you are seeking to become proficient in.

Judging by your first comment detailing what you would like to build, it appeared to be such a broad stroke in which you encompassed a wealth of disciplines. It seemed you were planning to dedicate roughly 10 years to your project, since that's about what it would take with dozens of people helping out. Otherwise, each category, to get a character up and running with the game engine, making a 3D model from scratch, create materials, do the animation/rigging, converting, implementing/programming, would take a few months to years apiece to become proficient in a lot of those fields. Just sayin'.
