FastestDogInTheDistrict Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 My Skyrim seems to have started double-saving, creating both an .ess save and an .skse save every time I save the game. For example: Save 5 - Katja Helgen Keep 00.15.20.ess Save 5 - Katja Helgen Keep 00.15.20.skse What is known to cause this? Is it a problem? If so, how do I stop it?
BSnake Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 Google is your friend: http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/834110-skse-save-files-what-are-they-good-for/ Basically SKSE mods store info in these files that can't be stored in the regular .ess saves. I have about 74 .skse saves and they barely take up half a megabyte combined. If you really want to get rid of them, you'll have to uninstall SKSE and related mods. I see no reason to though.

[/quote'] Hey Bsnake - thanks for the reply! I did actually look it up on Google - what I found tended to be along the lines of *what it is* rather than *what it does*. I read that some mods apparently force Skyrim/SKSE to make an additional save file to juggle something or other in the mod which cannot, for whatever reason, be put in a common-or-garden-variety save file. What I couldn't seem to find was much in the way of "why this is/is not a problem" or what the longer-term implications of having a heavily populated savegame folder might be. If you're having the same thing happen, but it's causing no dramas, then that is reassuring! Many thanks!
