enya Posted May 17, 2019 Posted May 17, 2019 Sorry if I describe the problem laboriously, I'm no native speeker. When I wanted to create new textures for the children's clothing, I noticed that the skirt is not visible on the diffuse map. Ingame and in Nifskope, however, it is displayed correctly. How can I visualize the seemingly invisible parts in Gimp to edit them? Thank you in advance for any hint!
sativa Posted May 17, 2019 Posted May 17, 2019 Maybe there is a alphachannel in the diffuse map but no alpha block in the *.nif. I don't know gimp,in PS you can see all channels, maybe gimp need a selected option? Save it as dxt 1 with no alpha channel and reload it.

Seijin8 Posted May 17, 2019 Posted May 17, 2019 In GIMP, toggle the alpha under channels (see below) to be able to see it all. There are multiple methods for determining the way specularity functions. In Skyrim it is based on the normalmap, but at some point in Skyrim's development, it might've been in the diffuse. And I think your DXT 1 re-export trick only works if the alpha is not 100%.

Seijin8 Posted May 18, 2019 Posted May 18, 2019 I am using GIMP. Make sure the texture you are messing with isn't the same one you previously saved in a non-alpha format.

Had already tried everything, but the invisible parts can not be made visible. Maybe I'm missing an addon or I still have to buy PS ... ? Thank you nevertheless, Edith

enya Posted May 18, 2019 Author Posted May 18, 2019 ??? - Okay, please help me. What have I done wrong? Is it because I may not be using the latest version, a German language setting, or are I'm missing addons?
