crash on character creation

Hi I don't know if I should have continued using the old thread, but since this is a new issue I thought that I should make a new thread.

 

So when I go to create a new character it crashes after I click done. I was trying to use the horkew race. This is my current load order

You might look at whatever mod contains the horkew race and make certain you installed it correctly and have any requirements it has as well.

I watched a shown load order and felt a simple question.

You make Patch in WB, and do you merge it definitely?

Horkew is from MBP. Most of the MBP .esp files are merged into the bashed patch. Maybe that would help. Dunno. You could also check your Data\Meshes and Data\Textures folders to see that you have the Characters\Horkew files.

Do you install Modular Beautiful People 2ch-Edition (Full) v1.4a. definitely before installing MBP++?

Horkew is Race added in Modular Beautiful People 2ch-Edition (Full) v1.4a.

The problem is whenever I try to create a character (no matter what race) it crashes. I already tried uninstalling all of the mods and that didn't help. I am about to try uninstalling oblivion and then reinstalling it and see if that works. I bought it off of steam so does anyone know of a way to reinstall it without having to redownload it (which takes like 4 hours)?

Ok, lets back up:

 

1. Did you install steam to the default location? (program files directory)

2. If you did then you need to move steam. Link on how to do it: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=7418-YUBN-8129

 

As to reinstalling Oblivion via steam - there is no need. Just open up steam and right click on oblivion in your games menu and select properties. Then choose to verify the game files. It will check all your files and then download only the ones that are wrong\bad.

 

Also, I recommend going to your my documents folder and finding your oblivion folder (where your saved games are stored) and rename the oblivion.ini file to oblivion.ini-disabled. This will force the game to create a new ini file which often helps things.

 

Last but not least, make CERTAIN you have installed OBSE correctly per the steam install instructions.
