Crash in dialogues

Since October I have been virtually unable to play the game anymore. After a few seconds it just crashes. I went through the motions, uninstalling everything game related, removing all my mods,, reinstalling and starting with a vanilla game, but nothing gives.

 

Now, mostly the crashes happen, when initiating dialogues. The game freezes up while the dialogue goes on in the background for a few seconds before it's back to desktop.

 

I didn't change anything on my system and every other game or application runs fine.

Two things that people often miss:

 

ENBs: If you uninstall but don't delete the game folder, any enbs will still be there. As will skse mods if you sart the game through something that recognises skse_loader. Deleting all the d3*dll files in the game folder will probably be enough here.

 

Configs: a bad ini file is easily capable of crashing the game, and they don't get cleared by a reinstall. They don't even live in the game folder (well, the ones the game reads don't, anyway) so that could be a possible culprit.  Try renaming Documents\My Games\Skyrim and then start the game from the launcher. That will regenerate your ini files

I figured it out in the meantime. But thanks for confirming my suspicion of them to be possible culprits. It seems to have been the enbs.
