Tray Importer, CC, and Me

I'm having a hard time figuring out how to make sure I'm getting all the CC to make a build or sim work as intended. If I read the instructions correctly, Sims 4 Tray Importer's search function only searches for a particular mod or piece of CC on my own computer. The ID numbers provided for a missing piece means nothing to a Google search. So if I don't know what I'm missing, I'm pretty much screwed, yes?

 

Where I'm getting confused is where I've supposedly acquired everything the original creator listed. It seems face masks and moles come up the most for missing CC. Then I'm hitting missing dependencies. Some recent sim posts here that should have everything packed up in the archive come up with missing meshes and other things. And when I open that sim up in CAS, her legs are cut off at the shin because the shoes are missing meshes (this one in particular I'll have to try later this morning after work after checking the archive shoes vs TSR.) The google results for some of those items don't mention anything about needing a mesh, so I'm a bit lost.

 

And then there's files I've saved from my own PC. Tray Importer claims I'm missing dependencies labeled "BUFF." Say again, please? Just what are you talking about? Is this something I'm really needing, or is this safely ignored?

 

I'm going to assume operator error in not using Tray Importer to peak efficiency. How can I do better and find that CC I think I'm missing? I'm away from my main game PC, so I don't have example screenshots. I can provide those later if needed. 

 

(EDIT: The sim in question above was in fact missing the original shoes CC. Found, installed, and Tray Importer is a bit happier. Still missing hair and traits, though.)

 

(Edit edit: getting a bit easier to find missing meshes. The biggest dependency issue now are textures (I assume that's what txtr means). The biggest offenders In my library are the City Living makeovers missing eye textures.)

I'm still not sure if it's me, the sim creator, or the CC creator. I'm running into missing meshes in Tray importer for HallowSims hair in particular, but everything looks okay in game.
