That's probably exactly what it was. Those three tiles are likely the same so editing the pink sprite would apply to all those three tiles.

It's efficient, but goes against our favour for nude sprites unfortunately.

Found a couple of very talentedly made Dr. Mario hacks by Kazufox.  I couldn't help myself, mostly since these characters exist primarily within the realm of hentai, anyways.  I will say, though, there wasn't any attempt to contact Kazufox for permission to not-so-talentedly (and perversely) change their original sprites, so these may have to come down if an official complaint is received...

I actually forgot some sprites, like the one on the letter.

About who we're going to rescue, i swapped Peach's sprites for Mario's. I'm replaying the hack and noting things I can improve, like swapping player two's palette for Daisy's.

That is interesting. I also made one, but it also wouldn't work in a real romhack because of those blank pink tiles. You would have to change the underlying tilemap data, and maybe there isn't enough VRAM for all the necessary tiles anyway. Games were extremely packed back them.
