Cyclops08 Posted February 24, 2019 Posted February 24, 2019 I have the Oldrim setup. I have Skyrim Unbound. I get that the game levels up with you. Where is a good place to start outside of Whiterun/Riverwood? any favorite spots? I have a mod that gives extra bandits. is there a vanilla location that is surrounded by bandits?
Guest Posted February 24, 2019 Posted February 24, 2019 Try a mod called Alternate start if you want to start playing differently, it is a simple and truly great mod to be fair

Alternate Start - Live Another Life extra mod if you use Alternate Start for your Skyrim Unbound Helgen Unbound (Alternate Start) for more mods which work with Alternate Start use the search on Nexus.

The "Reach Hold" location always drops me near Red Eagle Redoubt, so you start off in combat. I suppose you could consider yourself an escapee. The "Falkreath Cave" wilderness location starts at a bandit camp just down the road from Helgen, and bandits spawn when you try to loot the chest there. More bandits are just up the road to the south east (if you turn left before hitting the bridge near Pinewatch). The Karth River one puts you near the lumber mill in outside Solitude if you want to start as a laborer in rags or basic clothing and work your way up. I think there are a couple others like that but I don't have my list handy. You could also get the Hidden Hideouts of Skyrim mod from the Nexus and use the one that starts with them enabled for fast travel (or just open the console and use "help HHoS" to get a list of the location cells and coc to the one you like). Start nearly anywhere and just fast travel to the one you like, camping out there like a hermit and just head out to forage and see what you run into randomly. I'd say start in a jail and make a jailbreak, but for some reason it doesn't seem to clear the "sleep in a bed to serve your time" flag for me and when I do it screws things up. You could start in a random town, since most of mines nearby to work in or pick an Inn in a town that has work. Venture into the nearby countryside and see if you can pick any herbs without attracting any local wildlife and bring them back to sell. One goal with some of these "start with nothing" starts would be to get enough money to buy armor and a weapon from the local blacksmith then start making money for training. If you start with little gold and have lowered your skill levels with a mod like SkyTweak or one of the various perk balance mods, you can feel like a citizen not able to take on a bandit until you get a little gold and some experience under your belt. Another mod that lets you gain experience training on dummies (works for the 3 weapon skills and destruction, but not block or the other magical schools I think) would let you get whatever weapon skill goes with what you've purchased from the smith to a usable level. Dawnstar is usually a good place to start with a wood chopping block, axe and iron mine so you can do some work and get paid plus get materials to start making your own stuff. Shor's Stone would be another good place (unless your spiders are stronger than mine but the deer near town and the dead rift guards nearby provide a quick outfit) but it has no inn or town keyword to start at.
