All the latest Elder Scrolls 6 rumours rolled into one, from its suspected release date to ideas and the location at which it's expected to be set

The trailer and images in this article are of Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim was one of last year’s most critically acclaimed titles – it was even awarded one of T3’s rare 5 star reviews - shipping over 10 million copies in its first month alone.

In fact its creators, Bethesda, have recently announced an online version of the game, The Elder Scrolls Online, such is the success of the role-playing series.

Although we may not be seeing it for some time, rumours surrounding the launch of the sixth TER title have already emerged.

We round up the latest news, rumours, trailers and ideas for what’s sure to be another PS3 smash.

The Elder Scrolls 6: Release date

Alas, there’s been no official word on when the sixth TES will land. Why? Simply because it doesn't exist – well, not yet anyways.

However, a recent job posting on the Zenimax website - Bethesda's publishing arm - called for experienced applicants to work on an 'unannounced game'.

It read: “Bethesda Game Studios is looking for experienced programmers to work on cutting-edge technology for an unannounced game on future-generation consoles.”

Could it be The Elder Scrolls 6?

The ad expressed interest in developers with 'extensive experience' in 'programming and optimizing for the Xbox 360 and PS3', suggesting that the lucky candidate could be jazzing up Bethesda's current engine as opposed to creating a new one, according Official PlayStation Magazine.

Even if the advertisement was referring to Skyrim's successor, it could be a while before it finally hits shelves.

Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind landed in 2002, Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion was released in 2006 and its follow-up, Skyrim, officially launched at the end of 2011. Annoyingly, we could be kept waiting up to five whole years for the sixth version of the game.

As a result, TES 6 is likely to be developed for the next generation of consoles - the Sony PlayStation 4 and Xbox 720, which should pave the way for more progressive enhancements than in the previous five titles.

Location

Elder Scrolls 6: Location

Although not confirmed, it seems likely that the Elder Scrolls 6 will be set in the now familiar continent of Tamriel, as was the case with all previous titles before it.

Somehow we doubt Bethesda will allow players to travel across all of Tamriel - as is rumoured to be the case with The Elder Scrolls Online - although we would love the opportunity to visit previously explored regions such as Cyrodiil (of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion) and Morrowind (of The Elder Scrolls III).

A ballsy angle the game’s developers may take is to completely move the series away from the continent of Tamriel altogether.

Should Bethesda decide to send us to the continents of either Akavir or Atmora, it could provide the game’s creators with the platform they desperately need to introduce a catalogue of new landscapes, characters and weapons arsenal.

Many TES fans are keen on the idea. In a discussion on a Skyrim forum, one fanboy wrote:

“I like the idea of different province starts for different races. To make a TES game with level of detail of Skyrim, but Tamriel wide, would be HUGE undertaking. If it exists in the future, it would be awesome.

“Another possibility is having the next game located in a certain province but having start locations vary depending on your race. You could also have race specific quests or even factions.”

Another wrote: “All of Tamriel would be awesome, Morrowind again would also be awesome but hopefully they'd actually include the part of Morrowind attached to the mainland. My personal choice of Hammerfel though.”

The next generation of consoles would make the possibility of the game being set across the whole of Tamriel wholly achievable.

It would also allow players to begin their adventures in different provinces - depending on the race they choose - for their character at the start of the game.

For example, should you choose Imperial as your race, you would begin your quest in Cyrodiil, the homeland of the Imperial people.

We’re yet to hear of any further rumours on the location for Elder Scrolls 6 but will keep you updated as and when we do.

Yeah, a bit premature for this, hehe. We will almost certainly be getting Fallout 4 first. :D :D

I'd prefer a Daggerfall remake, just to see if they have the balls and ability to include EVERYTH9ING from the original into it, or if they would strip mine it to bare bones.

And people would still complain about fast travel.

BWAHAHAHA!!!

That article doesn't say ANYTHING! I skimed through the entire thing, top to bottom, and there isn't a single peice of actual hard evidence that there even WILL be a ES6!

Its all conjecture based on a job posting... Don't get me wrong, I would LOVE an ES6, and furthermore would LOVE if it were a more 'asian-esque' themed, taking place in Akavir. Pagodas, bamboo, samurai and ninjas galore... could you imagine a dark elf ninja dark brotherhood assassin (Or whatever they may call it in Akavir, the ebon hand, or the jade fist or something)?!

Anyhoo, I don't want to cast a raincloud over your collective parades... but seriously, that article says nuthin' at all. That's like Emma Bunton being seen walking out of a gym, and a reporter announces to the world "BIG SPICEGIRL REUNION COMBACK TOUR IMMINENT"!!! LOL dear god, that's my personal version of hell...

actually elder of scrolls online is gonna be buried withing 4 months lets just give them that [its zenimax own retarded idea to make this mmo , the thing is fans didnt want this game to be online which bad idea elder scrolls are meant to be solo experience no ONLINE bullshit where you hear kids screamed get Kill stealed , todd howard did express his thoughts about online he didnt like the idea too] , ELDER SCROLLS Isn't like world of bullshit where shit got delayed its highly likely we have to see fallout 4 first before TES 6 , it's always like that.

its like tradition fallout needs improvement which we gonna see the game finally enjoyed skyrim engine!.

they're probbaly looking for people to work in Fallout4, its too soon for a TESVI game, thus there's a entire team of beth and obsidian employees scavenging though massachussets and New England area

even new vegas hinted 1 or 2 things about the commonwealth being the next location along with F3

Yes that is a good idea but i dont think Beth Game Studios has the balls to let all the tamriel races behind an focus on an enirly new continent with entirly different races and places ,especialy after skyrim got super popular overnight .

If you notice the online version was set like 2000 (i am not sure) years before skyrim giving them the ability to change things and places to their liking. And we already know Bethesda ( not game studios) will do anything for money since they didnt lose a second to announce the TES Online

Well, they're looking too deeply into the job advertisement really. In any case, that unannounced game should be Fallout 4. Knowing Bethesda, it'll be something other than an Elder Scrolls...

what? what made them to fire 40%?

There's really no point talking about TES6 yet because it's ALL nothing but probablys and maybes, absolutely no fact whatsoever.

We might as well talk about TES7 to be honest because it would have exactly the same merits.

How come Oblivion writers involve with Kingdom of Amalur ,it isn't developed by Bethesda. and there was obviously a reason to skip the Black Marsh because it's an ugly swamp that no one wants to roam. if Elder Scrolls V was placed in there I might skip this. but I am pretty sure TES VI will take place in entire Tamriel so you will get a chance to roam through out entire Tamriel. then it doesn't matter even you encounter ugly parts because still you have good place to go but if it's entirely placed in Black Marsh then u stuck in that Swamp forever.

Next time pay attention to what people talk and don't jumped out on the gun like "freeze moofaka you lying bastard!" that's like saying unarmed person is a criminal :P , not my fault if the sources is failing , i dont felt guilty or perhaps needing apologizes cuz its rumor about oblivion team is falling apart. i didn't start this rumor guess who start this shit Guess.. big companies that write article about that [not blaming because somebody asks why this article started and why koa is suddenly on this topic] . that is why i kept secret because if i just pushed the fact people is gonna think oh i should believe that instead i don't reveal it because people will eventually know its a lie , if it were a lie then why lead designer join koa [ Do not blame the journalist we just doing our job to cover what's up with the news today , journalist always point being the bad guy because we keep so many secrets some has to put it on our archive and don't bring it to the public, that interview doesn't mentioned about this why, it's just interviewing relations with the oblivion lead designer joined koa team all sudden and the title bolded out pretty huge that's a hint. ] i never know at least what i can say good for them for moving on with other companies that deserve attention KOA is awosome game. not gonna change the subject because i have proof this wasn't came from me it was "somebody else" i kept repeating my self lol.

if TES VI is planned i'm pretty sure either its elyswyr or Morrowind again if it were morrowind hd man its gonna be epic win.

haha okay :P I am sorry for accusing you a liar

anyway if TES IV is released that's all I need but hope it's not again in Morrowind

I would like to see Hammerfall or Summerset Isles with Big ships.

its ok i get that alot at least i don't flunk out being a dumbass lol good thing i said its a rumour if it was legit statement then im gonna be in trouble alot lol. sometimes i get scared just leaking news etc but u know there's something tells me t hat people should know the truth only fake site will hide honesty.

you already half way there i mean your wished i just post leaked news i just got from email check it out redguard Reebot finally man i'm like jeeez i been waiting for that shit like forever i just hope they didnt cancel that idea...

Well' date=' they're looking too deeply into the job advertisement really. In any case, that unannounced game should be Fallout 4. Knowing Bethesda, it'll be something other than an Elder Scrolls...

cough cough that is why kingdom of amalur existed you know zenimax fired 40% writer from oblivion its fact.

Pretty interesting info. If that's true it would explain why 80% of Skyrim's quests suck balls.
