Skyrim crashing to desktop during character creation.

I'm having an odd problem where Skyrim will CTD when I select the Breton race and click done. Heres my load order.

I know its quite a few mods, but I've never had a problem like this before. I've got no idea where to even start other then disabling everything. Any suggestions?

 

EDIT: Doesn't seem to be just the Breton anymore but if I spend any time in the character creator

Deactivate ApachiiHairFemales.esm

 

Too many hair mods give Skyrim a hard time and it usually CTD.

Use the Optimizer program from Nexus: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/12801. This will optimize and compress textures. I use this quite often as I currently have about 3 times as many mods running as you have. I usually just do the minimum compression and it cleans things up quite nicely. If that does not work try reinstalling your skin textures as I have found that has caused issues for me as well.

Thank you for this thread. I was also having this problem. Using the compressor didn't help, but reducing the number of hair mods I had did.

Now Skyrim is running unusually slowly... Going to have to check to see if I can uncompress those textures.

In one of the tabs in the middle of the window there is an option to create a backup .RAR that is selected by default, and an option to take you to it. Just extract the contents back to your DATA folder. This fixed my slowdown problem.
