Headerman Posted December 5, 2018 Posted December 5, 2018 Hi guys, I want to create some completely new meshes and textures for a new mod, but i have not much of an idea of what i need to do it. I do know i need: - Skyrim Creation Kit - Fallout 3 Archive Utility What i also need is a decent 3d rendering program, i am currently installing 3D Studio Max 2019 to do that. I want to create some armous/clothing as well as (eventually) animated monsters. I have come across the following link as an initial guide.
mxwqtkl Posted December 5, 2018 Posted December 5, 2018 For starters the NIF plugin for Max only supports up to 2018 last I checked so don't be surprised if you need that version instead. Before you even worry about exporting to a game engine you have a lot to learn about your 3D modeling package and any support software. Look for a max tutorial series that covers: Gathering reference and concepts Creating a blockout Creating a high poly model Retopologizing a low poly model UV layout Baking from high to low Texture creation Rigging There are a bunch on Cubebrush you could look into. https://cubebrush.co/tim/products/zlzapq/blade-tutorial-3ds-max-substance-painter-2 is a free one.
Headerman Posted December 6, 2018 Author Posted December 6, 2018 Thanks, I ended up installing the 2016 version, i got the nif plugin working good on that one and started going through some basic tutorials
