Nymra Posted December 5, 2018 Posted December 5, 2018 I use Clarity ENB and I now ran BethINI, but I still have the weird Issue of shadows looking like Shit. Landscape looks striped somehow (when I get closer it looks like the shadows in fact produce stripes) and also characters have shadows that look ugly as hell. I googled but I did not find anything except "install ENB", so I already have an ENB... in its menue "detailled shadows" is ticked, I dont know what else I could do, completly lost here Anyone got ideas in which direction to look or even how to solve this? Thank you.
Pauduan Posted December 5, 2018 Posted December 5, 2018 To reduce shadow striping you have to set iBlurShadowMask to 5 or higher. The higher you set the shadow quality, the lower the number goes (and in effect de-blurs the shadows). This is part of Skyrimprefs.ini, or you can use Bethhini (I prefer manual) The highest you can set is 7, but note that you will get a glow around the character as the value goes higher. For self-shadows you have to set Shadow Mask Quarter to 1 or 2. Higher settings push this number higher, covering more of an object in shadow. To further tweak the .ini files you can look at the GeForce tweak guide for .ini files. Reducing shadow distance helps a lot and if your machine can handle it, setting shadow map size to 4096 or 8192. You have to set these manually as the engine's default settings don't work out all that well, it tends to draw shadows further away and that reduces the quality of shadows closer to camera. I have used Rudy and that's not what it looks like. Not even close. You may have messed up the install a bit, it looks like the default shaders are being used instead of the custom ones that come with Rudy.

Seems I had changed the wrong value in the first place... combination of iBlurShadowMask 5, Shadow Distance 2000 instead of 4000 and Shadow Mask Quarter 2 now greatly improved the Shadow Quality for me, very nice! I m just kinda disappointed by BethINI now, I hope that fixes that kind of stuff. In fact I think my ini was better before... well apart from the shadows that sucked with or without BethINI.
