Agent Tex Posted November 28, 2018 Posted November 28, 2018 Hello there My name is Tex, I make stories here on LL I was wondering if anyone with far a better understanding of the creation kit could tell me if my idea is even possible in Old Rim or even the creation engine. I want to make cool battles, now in skyrim this takes up a lot of fps, cpu and other things, I was wondering if I make little battle sets, with little NPCs and capture them fighting would have much of an impact? Would it be better or would it have no real effect? Think sort of Lord of the Rings, not that many NPCs but say 40 small vs 40 small would that make any difference compared to how the normal sizes would?
Alter Native Posted November 28, 2018 Posted November 28, 2018 The Creation Kit won't help you much there, you can place NPCs and object etc. there somewhat conveniently, but it won't help you much in screenshooting the scene. Not sure what you mean with little NPCs, you mean scaling them to let's say 10 % of their original size? That won't improve performance at all, as you still have render all the NPCs and their armors etc. and the render cost of armors etc. is determined by amount of polygons and textures etc. and that will stay the same, no matter how large you make the NPCs. Also you can scale NPCs ingame with the setscale command.
Guest Posted November 28, 2018 Posted November 28, 2018 Changing the size of the NPCs will not really improve the images. The number of triangles will be the same. You can try to reduce the amount of the triangles in the meshes, not easy but not impossible. For sure a lot of work. But in this case any actor that will be close to the camera will appear bulky. Now, about 80 actors is something possible also for Oldrim. You just need a good CPU to be able to run it smoothly (the graphic card will not help in this case.)
