losing control of simbots / plumbot

I can make a simbot or plumbot but after one or two save they are removed from the portrait panel. (using Nraas portrait panel) They are still in the house but can not be selected or clicked on. This happens by making or buying  or using kinkyworld debug. Is there any way to recover them or keep this from happening?
