So how do I "shrink" my images?

So that I can attach them to posts? I'd like to post pics that I've taken and put them into certain threads, but I receive a message saying that my image is too large and the size limit is blah blah blah.

Ps: Should I be embarrassed for asking this?

Convert the file type. BMP images, for example, can take up 6 megs while jpg images won't even take 1 at the same dimensions.

Also, consider making the image just smaller.

You can achieve the first with just about any program, even the standard paint should do (save as -> change file type). The second could probably be done in pain as well but if you want to keep the quality of the image you are better off using a program like photoshop or ACDSee.

For ACDSee, right click the image -> process -> edit.

I don't have photoshop so I can't give the steps for that.

Quick edit: as Ark said, you can also upload to imageshack or another such site, but I tried to provide help for what you asked about - reducing image size so you can attach it here.

No. I don't know how to do it either.

@Ark - imageshack also has an option for thumbnails. Wouldn't that work or is it too small?

It would work if you used the thumbnails' date=' this is how big they come up as.
