Intel CPU Question

I'm about to buy an Intel i7-7700K (7th Gen) off of ebay and the seller has in the description Kaby Lake but in the description has Skylake. I asked him and he said it Kaby but how can I be sure? So Intel has 2 different code names for the same generation? Is Skylake i7-6700K? Is there any way to distinguish by identifying numbers or visuals? Now I'm leery...

6xxx = Skylake

7xxx = Kaby Lake

Kaby Lake is evolution of Skylake, they share same socket and electrical requirements are similar.

Generally buying this stuff off eBay is risky at the best of times. Now that Intel CPUs are in short supply and prices are ridiculous, expect abused stuff that would not otherwise be reusable to show up on the used market.
