Kashiwaba Tomoe Posted October 27, 2012 Posted October 27, 2012 1- Wyre bash and OBMM are seperate programs that do seperate things. For mod managing, OBMM is the one to use, wyre bash is used to combine mods into a single .esp to reduce conflicts further. 2- The game of the year edition just includes shivering isles and (I think) most of the other offical expansions for the game. 3- It's better to look and see what mods interest you, THEN ask for help getting them working if you are unable to do so on your own.
Guest Posted October 28, 2012 Posted October 28, 2012 Welcome to the forum! If you have anymore questions, please don't hesitate to ask (so as long as you do try and research beforehand)!

Wrye Bash is fairly complicated and can intimidate a person. OBMM can be obtained from here: http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/2097 I would recommend you read this: http://cs.elderscrolls.com/index.php/Oblivion_Mods_FAQ as it can answer your basic questions on how to install mods and even on using OBMM.
vashar Posted October 28, 2012 Posted October 28, 2012 I run windows 7, and I haven't had any problems with Wrye Bash or OBMM yet. Do stick with OBMM to start- Gregathit is right, Wrye Bash has some extra features which take come getting used to. I have all the official mods installed (At least, I think I do- Most of them, at least.) and I haven't had any problems with them so far. If you need help getting a mod installed, you can drop by the oblivion section of this forum, and someone should be able to help ^^

As for the three links, well, this is where you use a little common sense, as the first two are rather clear in what they are discussing, the third is an offical site and rather scares on any information (I mean what can I say, Bethesda is lazy ) The easiest way really is to just install and play with OBMM, or find a detailed tutorial devoted only to OBMM use.
gregathit Posted October 28, 2012 Posted October 28, 2012 As for the three links' date=' well, this is where you use a little common sense, as the first two are rather clear in what they are discussing, the third is an offical site and rather scares on any information (I mean what can I say, Bethesda is lazy ) [/quote'] The third link is "not" an official site. It is a wiki page (meaning user contributed). It actually contains a wealth of information for those just starting out modding. It covers the basics of what mods are, and how to install them manually or via OBMM and even touches briefly on wrye. It is the link I always give to folks just starting out. If they thoroughly read through it, their basic questions are all answered right in one place. I do however agree that Bethesda is lazy.
gregathit Posted October 28, 2012 Posted October 28, 2012 but which install guide should i follow this one http://www.loverslab.com/showthread.php?tid=11051 Follow this guide if you want to install the mods listed there. NOTE: It does require wyre bash so be aware that it may be over your head. http://www.loverslab.com/showthread.php?tid=30 This is an ok guide for general reference but is not a step by step walk through. This assumes you already know the basics and have a general idea of what you want to do. okay thanks for the info i hope it will not went wrong on my win 7 thans btw Make certain that you have install your game outside of the program files directory. Example: C:\Games\Oblivion or C:\Oblivion If you install the game to the default location you will have all sorts of problems using mods as UAC and permissions will cause you fits. If you already installed the game then you need to uninstall it and reinstall it to somewhere outside of the program files directory.

[/quote'] thanks btw on which section should i post it..? That'll depend on the question you are asking. If it's for Oblivion, Fallout 3/New Vegas, or Skyrim, post in those sections. Other questions should go to places like the technical support section.
