SKSE not compatible

Hi there,

I basically have only one little question...do you know about conflicts between the new SKSE 1.6.x beta and Skyrim 1.8.x beta?

I searched the internet but I couldn`t find any others having the same problem like me o.0

I installed the new 1.8 beta patch for Skyrim via Steam + the skse beta build for that specific version + Dawnguard and Hearthfire...and now I can only run the game without SKSE...that works fine, but with SKSE it crashes before it can display the Bethesda logo -.-

- disabled ALL mods...the only things I left untouched were SkyUI`s interface files

- installed SKSE CORRECTLY...trust me I did NOT forget the data folder or the exe-files or to delete the obsolete dll :)

- tested with and without TESVAL and Fuz Ro D'oh PlugIns

- tested with and without ENB

...same problem

Changing to the old Skyrim 1.7.x patch and SKSE 1.5.x works. But the new Skyrim patch resolves my crash issues so I really need the new 1.8 patch -.-

I know "beta" is just for testing and not free of bugs but shouldn`t SKSE at least be able to start the game?

Do you have any ideas or experiences? I ran out of memory -.-

Thank you for your time ^^

Odd.

I am using SKSE 1.6.3 with the Skyrim Beta 1.8.151.0 and it works flawlessly. Before that I used 1.6.2 with 1.8.145.0 and that worked too.

Usually crashing before the splash screen hints at a missing master file but since it works for you without SKSE I suppose that is ruled out.

Does SKSE manage to create a skse.log file before the whole thing blows up? Maybe there is some hint in there. It should be located in a folder adjacent to your save game files. Mine is at .../My Games/Skyrim/SKSE/skse.log. There should be two more log files there: skse_loader.log and skse_steam_loader.log. Those might contain hints as well.

You mentioned TESVAL. Is that the TESV Acceleration Layer? If it is then get rid of it. That thing is obsolete since Skyrim moved beyond version 1.3. You might want to check your Skyrim directory for a dinput8.dll file and delete it if it is present. Older version of TESVAL came with that file and it might cause trouble.

The new SKSE creates *.skse files along with every save to store extra data. Maybe your security doesn't allow SKSE access to that folder but I don't really see why that would crash the game.

Beyond that, I don't really have any ideas. Sorry.

Thx for your response,

SKSE works perfectly until I would like to start the game ^^

I already checked the log files but I wasn`t able to read any kind of conflict there. Maybe you can see more. Please take a look:

..The only thing I find interesting is those double \\ before TESV.exe in the skse_loader.log...call me noob but I cannot imagine why they are there -.-

The SKSE plugins were my first target after experiencing the crash but it does not matter if those are installed or not -.-

Skyrim and all relevant applications already have full access to everything.

No ... sorry. I don't see any problems in these logs either.

Actually I get very similar logs if I just start Skyrim and exit it again without loading a game or starting a new one.

The double backslash is normal and just a symbol to mark the “working directory” or the “home base” of a executable or library. We all get that.

I apologize, I have no idea or clue why your game crashes when loaded through the SKSE launcher.

No need for apologies ^^

Thank you for your tipps.

I wrote an e-mail to the skse-team...maybe I`m a lucky one and they have time to answer + some ideas ^^

If not I will wait for the next update :)

Version 1.8.151.0.7 was released 11/01/2012 on Steam. This update for non-Dawnguard has screwed up my current game, hopefully a new S.K.S.E.

is forthcoming. It is only for the 1.8.151.0 version and won't work on my rig/comp.:-/ Next reinstall I'm gonna move my Skyrim out of Steam directory,I hate the auto update,if I would have know I would have started in offline mode.:(

Hey scooby have you tried installing the newest skse anyway just to try it at all or no? It worked fine for me plus I just found this on the UESPWiki:

"Version 1.8

[edit] Version 1.8.151.0.7

Version 1.8.151.0.7 was released 11/01/2012 on Steam.

Version 1.8.151.0.7 was released as a Steam beta on 10/24/2012"

If you just figured that it didn't work so you didn't get it, go ahead and try it and see what happens. If you have already tried it and still didn't work then I have no clue. This update screwed up any chance of editing any mod that requires the patch 1.7 update.esm in CK also. I tried tweaking one mod that required it and it wouldn't let me because it couldn't find the right update.esm so CK needs to get updated too. Grrrr ha ha. Cheers and hope you can get SKSE working.

Its not just you. I'm having exactly the same issue with the latest update of Skyrim that downloaded today, 11/1.

I can run Skyrim fine without SKSE. It won't run - just crashes to the desktop before even the Bethseda logo - when I try to use it with the latest version of SKSE.

Just have to wait for an update.

It's as Rasana wrote, when I launch the SKSE it states that it's not compatible with the current Skyrim version.I'm sure that the SKSE

update will be available ASAP.Thanks for trying to help.:)

Ah ok I was just checking because for some reason it's working for me. Unless it's because I start my game with that fake windowed mode mod but then again that's what told me earlier that it was out of date. Maybe because I moved my Steam directory out of Program Files(x86) and into a different area I have no idea. I'm pretty computer stupid when it comes to stuff like that. Ok I admit I'm computer stupid all the way around lol.

I am really happy that I`m not the only one with that problem ^^

Today I completely reinstalled Steam and Skyrim...after steam has downloaded everything (7 hours waiting -.-) I will test the current SKSE version and the new patch...if that won`t work we can exclude any kind of mod as the cause of the problem ^^

I will give feedback.

Okay, fresh install without any mod and the problem is there again...now I can only imagine that the Dawnguard or Hearthfire-Addons are responsible...removing these addons has no effect so only chance is waiting -.-

Sometimes I hate modding ;D
