StableBot Posted August 23, 2018 Posted August 23, 2018 Just curious, is the area around the eye this bad for everyone or is it just me? I've been trying for days to get effects like these... free photo upload I'm not trying to copy their character, I wish to know how they make the eye puffy and lip gloss, like a medium rare, red on the inside then radiate out. Is the eye and gloss related to tint area? Can someone recommend mods that will create the same effect? I'm currently using https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/73853/ Thanks ahead of time.
Alter Native Posted August 23, 2018 Posted August 23, 2018 So the gloss effect on a character is typically a combination of the ENB and the specular map. The specular map which is basically a copy of the texture of the face bright areas refer to more gloss/reflectiveness while black areas don't reflect. Since you using pictures form the mod you just linked you should have the same specular map as them (assuming you installed everything correctly). Moreover the choice of the ENB has also a big effect on the strength of the reflectiveness and glossiness. The red areas are the result of character design, chosen colors and the tint masks they are using.

So I assume the lips color I have to make myself? But do you have any idea how to make the eye area better? Something similar to theirs?
StableBot Posted August 24, 2018 Author Posted August 24, 2018 I guess it's a secrete then eh? Ya'll keeping all the good looking lass to yourself ?
Ash71 Posted August 24, 2018 Posted August 24, 2018 If I had to take a guess, it's the normal map or femalehead_msn.dds that give the eyes the puffy look. The best and cleanest way to adjust specular will be to find a specular map you like, use it as a base and edit it in gimp/photoshop. Taking a shot in the dark here but the issue with the eyes you have seems like maybe you have mismatching textures? Not sure but it looks like the normal map you have was not designed to work with the diffuse map that is installed.

I'm using the whole set from this https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/73853/ Which one is the normal and which is the diffuse? Would you have any idea how to improve the texture around the eye? It naturally that bad or I'm just too zoom?
Ash71 Posted August 24, 2018 Posted August 24, 2018 femalehead=diffuse, femalehead_msn=normal I mean the images on the modpage look fine and dont seem to have the issue like in your screenshot. I'm guessing you chose the correct textures for the body type you are using so I'm at a loss, is it like that on all female characters or just a specific one?

I've been going around taking screenshots. The older followers seem to have the problem, the newer, mostly Korean followers dosen't seem to have this issue. I think you are right with the diffuse and normal map... I just don't know what to do about it. I'm fairly certain that I've installed this incorrectly. I'm using mod organizer, I assumed that this mod should have overwritten the others. Guess I have to try to track down the other stuff and uncheck them.
Ash71 Posted August 24, 2018 Posted August 24, 2018 Could be incompatible with the head mesh the older followers are using. That or the nitrishape for the eyes on their facegen does not like that texture for whatever reason.

After unchecking that, the pureskin texture kick in and works... somewhat like the picture ? Thanks for the helps
Ash71 Posted August 25, 2018 Posted August 25, 2018 Np glad you got it figured out. Hmm those are some nice looking textures, might give em a try sometime....cya
